Since Wa is getting shut down again, I figured going out on dates is kinda limited. I’m trying to find cool view points looking over the city or just beautiful spots I can take this girl out on while still being able to sit in my car.. you know beautiful view, some takeout, and just have a conversation anyone know some places?? Or hidden gems?

2020.11.18 05:17 YeetyYeetyYeety the bee movie script

According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible. Yellow, black. Yellow, black. Yellow, black. Yellow, black. Ooh, black and yellow! Let's shake it up a little. Barry! Breakfast is ready! Coming! Hang on a second. Hello? Barry? Adam? Can you believe this is happening? I can't. I'll pick you up. Looking sharp. Use the stairs, Your father paid good money for those. Sorry. I'm excited. Here's the graduate. We're very proud of you, son. A perfect report card, all B's. Very proud. Ma! I got a thing going here. You got lint on your fuzz. Ow! That's me! Wave to us! We'll be in row 118,000. Bye! Barry, I told you, stop flying in the house! Hey, Adam. Hey, Barry. Is that fuzz gel? A little. Special day, graduation. Never thought I'd make it. Three days grade school, three days high school. Those were awkward. Three days college. I'm glad I took a day and hitchhiked around The Hive. You did come back different. Hi, Barry. Artie, growing a mustache? Looks good. Hear about Frankie? Yeah. You going to the funeral? No, I'm not going. Everybody knows, sting someone, you die. Don't waste it on a squirrel. Such a hothead. I guess he could have just gotten out of the way. I love this incorporating an amusement park into our day. That's why we don't need vacations. Boy, quite a bit of pomp under the circumstances. Well, Adam, today we are men. We are! Bee-men. Amen! Hallelujah! Students, faculty, distinguished bees, please welcome Dean Buzzwell. Welcome, New Hive City graduating class of 9:15. That concludes our ceremonies And begins your career at Honex Industries! Will we pick our job today? I heard it's just orientation. Heads up! Here we go. Keep your hands and antennas inside the tram at all times. Wonder what it'll be like? A little scary. Welcome to Honex, a division of Honesco and a part of the Hexagon Group. This is it! Wow. Wow. We know that you, as a bee, have worked your whole life to get to the point where you can work for your whole life. Honey begins when our valiant Pollen Jocks bring the nectar to The Hive. Our top-secret formula is automatically color-corrected, scent-adjusted and bubble-contoured into this soothing sweet syrup with its distinctive golden glow you know as... Honey! That girl was hot. She's my cousin! She is? Yes, we're all cousins. Right. You're right. At Honex, we constantly strive to improve every aspect of bee existence. These bees are stress-testing a new helmet technology. What do you think he makes? Not enough. Here we have our latest advancement, the Krelman. What does that do? Catches that little strand of honey that hangs after you pour it. Saves us millions. Can anyone work on the Krelman? Of course. Most bee jobs are small ones. But bees know that every small job, if it's done well, means a lot. But choose carefully because you'll stay in the job you pick for the rest of your life. The same job the rest of your life? I didn't know that. What's the difference? You'll be happy to know that bees, as a species, haven't had one day off in 27 million years. So you'll just work us to death? We'll sure try. Wow! That blew my mind! "What's the difference?" How can you say that? One job forever? That's an insane choice to have to make. I'm relieved. Now we only have to make one decision in life. But, Adam, how could they never have told us that? Why would you question anything? We're bees. We're the most perfectly functioning society on Earth. You ever think maybe things work a little too well here? Like what? Give me one example. I don't know. But you know what I'm talking about. Please clear the gate. Royal Nectar Force on approach. Wait a second. Check it out. Hey, those are Pollen Jocks! Wow. I've never seen them this close. They know what it's like outside The Hive. Yeah, but some don't come back. Hey, Jocks! Hi, Jocks! You guys did great! You're monsters! You're sky freaks! I love it! I love it! I wonder where they were. I don't know. Their day's not planned. Outside The Hive, flying who knows where, doing who knows what. You can't just decide to be a Pollen Jock. You have to be bred for that. Right. Look. That's more pollen than you and I will see in a lifetime. It's just a status symbol. Bees make too much of it. Perhaps. Unless you're wearing it and the ladies see you wearing it. Those ladies? Aren't they our cousins too? Distant. Distant. Look at these two. Couple of Hive Harrys. Let's have fun with them. It must be dangerous being a Pollen Jock. Yeah. Once a bear pinned me against a mushroom! He had a paw on my throat, and with the other, he was slapping me! Oh, my! I never thought I'd knock him out. What were you doing during this? Trying to alert the authorities. I can autograph that. A little gusty out there today, wasn't it, comrades? Yeah. Gusty. We're hitting a sunflower patch six miles from here tomorrow. Six miles, huh? Barry! A puddle jump for us, but maybe you're not up for it. Maybe I am. You are not! We're going 0900 at J-Gate. What do you think, buzzy-boy? Are you bee enough? I might be. It all depends on what 0900 means. Hey, Honex! Dad, you surprised me. You decide what you're interested in? Well, there's a lot of choices. But you only get one. Do you ever get bored doing the same job every day? Son, let me tell you about stirring. You grab that stick, and you just move it around, and you stir it around. You get yourself into a rhythm. It's a beautiful thing. You know, Dad, the more I think about it, maybe the honey field just isn't right for me. You were thinking of what, making balloon animals? That's a bad job for a guy with a stinger. Janet, your son's not sure he wants to go into honey! Barry, you are so funny sometimes. I'm not trying to be funny. You're not funny! You're going into honey. Our son, the stirrer! You're gonna be a stirrer? No one's listening to me! Wait till you see the sticks I have. I could say anything right now. I'm gonna get an ant tattoo! Let's open some honey and celebrate! Maybe I'll pierce my thorax. Shave my antennae. Shack up with a grasshopper. Get a gold tooth and call everybody "dawg"! I'm so proud. We're starting work today! Today's the day. Come on! All the good jobs will be gone. Yeah, right. Pollen counting, stunt bee, pouring, stirrer, front desk, hair removal... Is it still available? Hang on. Two left! One of them's yours! Congratulations! Step to the side. What'd you get? Picking crud out. Stellar! Wow! Couple of newbies? Yes, sir! Our first day! We are ready! Make your choice. You want to go first? No, you go. Oh, my. What's available? Restroom attendant's open, not for the reason you think. Any chance of getting the Krelman? Sure, you're on. I'm sorry, the Krelman just closed out. Wax monkey's always open. The Krelman opened up again. What happened? A bee died. Makes an opening. See? He's dead. Another dead one. Deady. Deadified. Two more dead. Dead from the neck up. Dead from the neck down. That's life! Oh, this is so hard! Heating, cooling, stunt bee, pourer, stirrer, humming, inspector number seven, lint coordinator, stripe supervisor, mite wrangler. Barry, what do you think I should... Barry? Barry! All right, we've got the sunflower patch in quadrant nine... What happened to you? Where are you? I'm going out. Out? Out where? Out there. Oh, no! I have to, before I go to work for the rest of my life. You're gonna die! You're crazy! Hello? Another call coming in. If anyone's feeling brave, there's a Korean deli on 83rd that gets their roses today. Hey, guys. Look at that. Isn't that the kid we saw yesterday? Hold it, son, flight deck's restricted. It's OK, Lou. We're gonna take him up. Really? Feeling lucky, are you? Sign here, here. Just initial that. Thank you. OK. You got a rain advisory today, and as you all know, bees cannot fly in rain. So be careful. As always, watch your brooms, hockey sticks, dogs, birds, bears and bats. Also, I got a couple of reports of root beer being poured on us. Murphy's in a home because of it, babbling like a cicada! That's awful. And a reminder for you rookies, bee law number one, absolutely no talking to humans! All right, launch positions! Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz! Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz! Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz! Black and yellow! Hello! You ready for this, hot shot? Yeah. Yeah, bring it on. Wind, check. Antennae, check. Nectar pack, check. Wings, check. Stinger, check. Scared out of my shorts, check. OK, ladies, let's move it out! Pound those petunias, you striped stem-suckers! All of you, drain those flowers! Wow! I'm out! I can't believe I'm out! So blue. I feel so fast and free! Box kite! Wow! Flowers! This is Blue Leader, We have roses visual. Bring it around 30 degrees and hold. Roses! 30 degrees, roger. Bringing it around. Stand to the side, kid. It's got a bit of a kick. That is one nectar collector! Ever see pollination up close? No, sir. I pick up some pollen here, sprinkle it over here. Maybe a dash over there, a pinch on that one. See that? It's a little bit of magic. That's amazing. Why do we do that? That's pollen power. More pollen, more flowers, more nectar, more honey for us. Cool. I'm picking up a lot of bright yellow, Could be daisies, Don't we need those? Copy that visual. Wait. One of these flowers seems to be on the move. Say again? You're reporting a moving flower? Affirmative. That was on the line! This is the coolest. What is it? I don't know, but I'm loving this color. It smells good. Not like a flower, but I like it. Yeah, fuzzy. Chemical-y. Careful, guys. It's a little grabby. My sweet lord of bees! Candy-brain, get off there! Problem! Guys! This could be bad. Affirmative. Very close. Gonna hurt. Mama's little boy. You are way out of position, rookie! Coming in at you like a missile! Help me! I don't think these are flowers. Should we tell him? I think he knows. What is this?! Match point! You can start packing up, honey, because you're about to eat it! Yowser! Gross. There's a bee in the car! Do something! I'm driving! Hi, bee. He's back here! He's going to sting me! Nobody move. If you don't move, he won't sting you. Freeze! He blinked! Spray him, Granny! What are you doing?! Wow... the tension level out here is unbelievable. I gotta get home. Can't fly in rain. Can't fly in rain. Can't fly in rain. Mayday! Mayday! Bee going down! Ken, could you close the window please? Ken, could you close the window please? Check out my new resume. I made it into a fold-out brochure. You see? Folds out. Oh, no. More humans. I don't need this. What was that? Maybe this time. This time. This time. This time! This time! This... Drapes! That is diabolical. It's fantastic. It's got all my special skills, even my top-ten favorite movies. What's number one? Star Wars? Nah, I don't go for that... kind of stuff. No wonder we shouldn't talk to them. They're out of their minds. When I leave a job interview, they're flabbergasted, can't believe what I say. There's the sun. Maybe that's a way out. I don't remember the sun having a big 75 on it. I predicted global warming. I could feel it getting hotter. At first I thought it was just me. Wait! Stop! Bee! Stand back. These are winter boots. Wait! Don't kill him! You know I'm allergic to them! This thing could kill me! Why does his life have less value than yours? Why does his life have any less value than mine? Is that your statement? I'm just saying all life has value. You don't know what he's capable of feeling. My brochure! There you go, little guy. I'm not scared of him. It's an allergic thing. Put that on your resume brochure. My whole face could puff up. Make it one of your special skills. Knocking someone out is also a special skill. Right. Bye, Vanessa. Thanks. Vanessa, next week? Yogurt night? Sure, Ken. You know, whatever. You could put carob chips on there. Bye. Supposed to be less calories. Bye. I gotta say something. She saved my life. I gotta say something. All right, here it goes. Nah. What would I say? I could really get in trouble. It's a bee law. You're not supposed to talk to a human. I can't believe I'm doing this. I've got to. Oh, I can't do it. Come on! No. Yes. No. Do it. I can't. How should I start it? "You like jazz?" No, that's no good. Here she comes! Speak, you fool! Hi! I'm sorry. You're talking. Yes, I know. You're talking! I'm so sorry. No, it's OK. It's fine. I know I'm dreaming. But I don't recall going to bed. Well, I'm sure this is very disconcerting. This is a bit of a surprise to me. I mean, you're a bee! I am. And I'm not supposed to be doing this, but they were all trying to kill me. And if it wasn't for you... I had to thank you. It's just how I was raised. That was a little weird. I'm talking with a bee. Yeah. I'm talking to a bee. And the bee is talking to me! I just want to say I'm grateful. I'll leave now. Wait! How did you learn to do that? What? The talking thing. Same way you did, I guess. "Mama, Dada, honey." You pick it up. That's very funny. Yeah. Bees are funny. If we didn't laugh, we'd cry with what we have to deal with. Anyway... Can I... get you something? Like what? I don't know. I mean... I don't know. Coffee? I don't want to put you out. It's no trouble. It takes two minutes. It's just coffee. I hate to impose. Don't be ridiculous! Actually, I would love a cup. Hey, you want rum cake? I shouldn't. Have some. No, I can't. Come on! I'm trying to lose a couple micrograms. Where? These stripes don't help. You look great! I don't know if you know anything about fashion. Are you all right? No. He's making the tie in the cab as they're flying up Madison. He finally gets there. He runs up the steps into the church. The wedding is on. And he says, "Watermelon? I thought you said Guatemalan. Why would I marry a watermelon?" Is that a bee joke? That's the kind of stuff we do. Yeah, different. So, what are you gonna do, Barry? About work? I don't know. I want to do my part for The Hive, but I can't do it the way they want. I know how you feel. You do? Sure. My parents wanted me to be a lawyer or a doctor, but I wanted to be a florist. Really? My only interest is flowers. Our new queen was just elected with that same campaign slogan. Anyway, if you look... There's my hive right there. See it? You're in Sheep Meadow! Yes! I'm right off the Turtle Pond! No way! I know that area. I lost a toe ring there once. Why do girls put rings on their toes? Why not? It's like putting a hat on your knee. Maybe I'll try that. You all right, ma'am? Oh, yeah. Fine. Just having two cups of coffee! Anyway, this has been great. Thanks for the coffee. Yeah, it's no trouble. Sorry I couldn't finish it. If I did, I'd be up the rest of my life. Are you...? Can I take a piece of this with me? Sure! Here, have a crumb. Thanks! Yeah. All right. Well, then... I guess I'll see you around. Or not. OK, Barry. And thank you so much again... for before. Oh, that? That was nothing. Well, not nothing, but... Anyway... This can't possibly work. He's all set to go. We may as well try it. OK, Dave, pull the chute. Sounds amazing. It was amazing! It was the scariest, happiest moment of my life. Humans! I can't believe you were with humans! Giant, scary humans! What were they like? Huge and crazy. They talk crazy. They eat crazy giant things. They drive crazy. Do they try and kill you, like on TV? Some of them. But some of them don't. How'd you get back? Poodle. You did it, and I'm glad. You saw whatever you wanted to see. You had your "experience." Now you can pick out yourjob and be normal. Well... Well? Well, I met someone. You did? Was she Bee-ish? A wasp?! Your parents will kill you! No, no, no, not a wasp. Spider? I'm not attracted to spiders. I know it's the hottest thing, with the eight legs and all. I can't get by that face. So who is she? She's... human. No, no. That's a bee law. You wouldn't break a bee law. Her name's Vanessa. Oh, boy. She's so nice. And she's a florist! Oh, no! You're dating a human florist! We're not dating. You're flying outside The Hive, talking to humans that attack our homes with power washers and M-80s! One-eighth a stick of dynamite! She saved my life! And she understands me. This is over! Eat this. This is not over! What was that? They call it a crumb. It was so stingin' stripey! And that's not what they eat. That's what falls off what they eat! You know what a Cinnabon is? No. It's bread and cinnamon and frosting. They heat it up... Sit down! ...really hot! Listen to me! We are not them! We're us. There's us and there's them! Yes, but who can deny the heart that is yearning? There's no yearning. Stop yearning. Listen to me! You have got to start thinking bee, my friend. Thinking bee! Thinking bee. Thinking bee. Thinking bee! Thinking bee! Thinking bee! Thinking bee! There he is. He's in the pool. You know what your problem is, Barry? I gotta start thinking bee? How much longer will this go on? It's been three days! Why aren't you working? I've got a lot of big life decisions to think about. What life? You have no life! You have no job. You're barely a bee! Would it kill you to make a little honey? Barry, come out. Your father's talking to you. Martin, would you talk to him? Barry, I'm talking to you! You coming? Got everything? All set! Go ahead. I'll catch up. Don't be too long. Watch this! Vanessa! We're still here. I told you not to yell at him. He doesn't respond to yelling! Then why yell at me? Because you don't listen! I'm not listening to this. Sorry, I've gotta go. Where are you going? I'm meeting a friend. A girl? Is this why you can't decide? Bye. I just hope she's Bee-ish. They have a huge parade of flowers every year in Pasadena? To be in the Tournament of Roses, that's every florist's dream! Up on a float, surrounded by flowers, crowds cheering. A tournament. Do the roses compete in athletic events? No. All right, I've got one. How come you don't fly everywhere? It's exhausting. Why don't you run everywhere? It's faster. Yeah, OK, I see, I see. All right, your turn. TiVo. You can just freeze live TV? That's insane! You don't have that? We have Hivo, but it's a disease. It's a horrible, horrible disease. Oh, my. Dumb bees! You must want to sting all those jerks. We try not to sting. It's usually fatal for us. So you have to watch your temper. Very carefully. You kick a wall, take a walk, write an angry letter and throw it out. Work through it like any emotion: Anger, jealousy, lust. Oh, my goodness! Are you OK? Yeah. What is wrong with you?! It's a bug. He's not bothering anybody. Get out of here, you creep! What was that? A Pic 'N' Save circular? Yeah, it was. How did you know? It felt like about 10 pages. Seventy-five is pretty much our limit. You've really got that down to a science. I lost a cousin to Italian Vogue. I'll bet. What in the name of Mighty Hercules is this? How did this get here? cute Bee, Golden Blossom, Ray Liotta Private Select? Is he that actor? I never heard of him. Why is this here? For people. We eat it. You don't have enough food of your own? Well, yes. How do you get it? Bees make it. I know who makes it! And it's hard to make it! There's heating, cooling, stirring. You need a whole Krelman thing! It's organic. It's our-ganic! It's just honey, Barry. Just what?! Bees don't know about this! This is stealing! A lot of stealing! You've taken our homes, schools, hospitals! This is all we have! And it's on sale?! I'm getting to the bottom of this. I'm getting to the bottom of all of this! Hey, Hector. You almost done? Almost. He is here. I sense it. Well, I guess I'll go home now and just leave this nice honey out, with no one around. You're busted, box boy! I knew I heard something. So you can talk! I can talk. And now you'll start talking! Where you getting the sweet stuff? Who's your supplier? I don't understand. I thought we were friends. The last thing we want to do is upset bees! You're too late! It's ours now! You, sir, have crossed the wrong sword! You, sir, will be lunch for my iguana, Ignacio! Where is the honey coming from? Tell me where! Honey Farms! It comes from Honey Farms! Crazy person! What horrible thing has happened here? These faces, they never knew what hit them. And now they're on the road to nowhere! Just keep still. What? You're not dead? Do I look dead? They will wipe anything that moves. Where you headed? To Honey Farms. I am onto something huge here. I'm going to Alaska. Moose blood, crazy stuff. Blows your head off! I'm going to Tacoma. And you? He really is dead. All right. Uh-oh! What is that?! Oh, no! A wiper! Triple blade! Triple blade? Jump on! It's your only chance, bee! Why does everything have to be so doggone clean?! How much do you people need to see?! Open your eyes! Stick your head out the window! From NPR News in Washington, I'm Carl Kasell. But don't kill no more bugs! Bee! Moose blood guy!! You hear something? Like what? Like tiny screaming. Turn off the radio. Whassup, bee boy? Hey, Blood. Just a row of honey jars, as far as the eye could see. Wow! I assume wherever this truck goes is where they're getting it. I mean, that honey's ours. Bees hang tight. We're all jammed in. It's a close community. Not us, man. We on our own. Every mosquito on his own. What if you get in trouble? You a mosquito, you in trouble. Nobody likes us. They just smack. See a mosquito, smack, smack! At least you're out in the world. You must meet girls. Mosquito girls try to trade up, get with a moth, dragonfly. Mosquito girl don't want no mosquito. You got to be kidding me! Mooseblood's about to leave the building! So long, bee! Hey, guys! Mooseblood! I knew I'd catch y'all down here. Did you bring your crazy straw? We throw it in jars, slap a label on it, and it's pretty much pure profit. What is this place? A bee's got a brain the size of a pinhead. They are pinheads! Pinhead. Check out the new smoker. Oh, sweet. That's the one you want. The Thomas 3000! Smoker? Ninety puffs a minute, semi-automatic. Twice the nicotine, all the tar. A couple breaths of this knocks them right out. They make the honey, and we make the money. "They make the honey, and we make the money"? Oh, my! What's going on? Are you OK? Yeah. It doesn't last too long. Do you know you're in a fake hive with fake walls? Our queen was moved here. We had no choice. This is your queen? That's a man in women's clothes! That's a drag queen! What is this? Oh, no! There's hundreds of them! Bee honey. Our honey is being brazenly stolen on a massive scale! This is worse than anything bears have done! I intend to do something. Oh, Barry, stop. Who told you humans are taking our honey? That's a rumor. Do these look like rumors? That's a conspiracy theory. These are obviously doctored photos. How did you get mixed up in this? He's been talking to humans. What? Talking to humans?! He has a human girlfriend. And they make out! Make out? Barry! We do not. You wish you could. Whose side are you on? The bees! I dated a cricket once in San Antonio. Those crazy legs kept me up all night. Barry, this is what you want to do with your life? I want to do it for all our lives. Nobody works harder than bees! Dad, I remember you coming home so overworked your hands were still stirring. You couldn't stop. I remember that. What right do they have to our honey? We live on two cups a year. They put it in lip balm for no reason whatsoever! Even if it's true, what can one bee do? Sting them where it really hurts. In the face! The eye! That would hurt. No. Up the nose? That's a killer. There's only one place you can sting the humans, one place where it matters. Hive at Five, The Hive's only full-hour action news source. No more bee beards! With Bob Bumble at the anchor desk. Weather with Storm Stinger. Sports with Buzz Larvi. And Jeanette Chung. Good evening. I'm Bob Bumble. And I'm Jeanette Ohung. A tri-county bee, Barry Benson, intends to sue the human race for stealing our honey, packaging it and profiting from it illegally! Tomorrow night on Bee Larry King, we'll have three former queens here in our studio, discussing their new book, classy Ladies, out this week on Hexagon. Tonight we're talking to Barry Benson. Did you ever think, "I'm a kid from The Hive. I can't do this"? Bees have never been afraid to change the world. What about Bee Oolumbus? Bee Gandhi? Bejesus? Where I'm from, we'd never sue humans. We were thinking of stickball or candy stores. How old are you? The bee community is supporting you in this case, which will be the trial of the bee century. You know, they have a Larry King in the human world too. It's a common name. Next week... He looks like you and has a show and suspenders and colored dots... Next week... Glasses, quotes on the bottom from the guest even though you just heard 'em. Bear Week next week! They're scary, hairy and here live. Always leans forward, pointy shoulders, squinty eyes, very Jewish. In tennis, you attack at the point of weakness! It was my grandmother, Ken. She's 81. Honey, her backhand's a joke! I'm not gonna take advantage of that? Quiet, please. Actual work going on here. Is that that same bee? Yes, it is! I'm helping him sue the human race. Hello. Hello, bee. This is Ken. Yeah, I remember you. Timberland, size ten and a half. Vibram sole, I believe. Why does he talk again? Listen, you better go 'cause we're really busy working. But it's our yogurt night! Bye-bye. Why is yogurt night so difficult?! You poor thing. You two have been at this for hours! Yes, and Adam here has been a huge help. Frosting... How many sugars? Just one. I try not to use the competition. So why are you helping me? Bees have good qualities. And it takes my mind off the shop. Instead of flowers, people are giving balloon bouquets now. Those are great, if you're three. And artificial flowers. Oh, those just get me psychotic! Yeah, me too. Bent stingers, pointless pollination. Bees must hate those fake things! Nothing worse than a daffodil that's had work done. Maybe this could make up for it a little bit. This lawsuit's a pretty big deal. I guess. You sure you want to go through with it? Am I sure? When I'm done with the humans, they won't be able to say, "Honey, I'm home," without paying a royalty! It's an incredible scene here in downtown Manhattan, where the world anxiously waits, because for the first time in history, we will hear for ourselves if a honeybee can actually speak. What have we gotten into here, Barry? It's pretty big, isn't it? I can't believe how many humans don't work during the day. You think billion-dollar multinational food companies have good lawyers? Everybody needs to stay behind the barricade. What's the matter? I don't know, I just got a chill. Well, if it isn't the bee team. You boys work on this? All rise! The Honorable Judge Bumbleton presiding. All right. Case number 4475, Superior Court of New York, Barry Bee Benson v. the Honey Industry is now in session. Mr. Montgomery, you're representing the five food companies collectively? A privilege. Mr. Benson... you're representing all the bees of the world? I'm kidding. Yes, Your Honor, we're ready to proceed. Mr. Montgomery, your opening statement, please. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, my grandmother was a simple woman. Born on a farm, she believed it was man's divine right to benefit from the bounty of nature God put before us. If we lived in the topsy-turvy world Mr. Benson imagines, just think of what would it mean. I would have to negotiate with the silkworm for the elastic in my britches! Talking bee! How do we know this isn't some sort of holographic motion-picture-capture Hollywood wizardry? They could be using laser beams! Robotics! Ventriloquism! Cloning! For all we know, he could be on steroids! Mr. Benson? Ladies and gentlemen, there's no trickery here. I'm just an ordinary bee. Honey's pretty important to me. It's important to all bees. We invented it! We make it. And we protect it with our lives. Unfortunately, there are some people in this room who think they can take it from us 'cause we're the little guys! I'm hoping that, after this is all over, you'll see how, by taking our honey, you not only take everything we have but everything we are! I wish he'd dress like that all the time. So nice! Call your first witness. So, Mr. Klauss Vanderhayden of Honey Farms, big company you have. I suppose so. I see you also own Honeyburton and Honron! Yes, they provide beekeepers for our farms. Beekeeper. I find that to be a very disturbing term. I don't imagine you employ any bee-free-ers, do you? No. I couldn't hear you. No. No. Because you don't free bees. You keep bees. Not only that, it seems you thought a bear would be an appropriate image for a jar of honey. They're very lovable creatures. Yogi Bear, Fozzie Bear, Build-A-Bear. You mean like this? Bears kill bees! How'd you like his head crashing through your living room?! Biting into your couch! Spitting out your throw pillows! OK, that's enough. Take him away. So, Mr. Sting, thank you for being here. Your name intrigues me. Where have I heard it before? I was with a band called The Police. But you've never been a police officer, have you? No, I haven't. No, you haven't. And so here we have yet another example of bee culture casually stolen by a human for nothing more than a prance-about stage name. Oh, please. Have you ever been stung, Mr. Sting? Because I'm feeling a little stung, Sting. Or should I say... Mr. Gordon M. Sumner! That's not his real name?! You idiots! Mr. Liotta, first, belated congratulations on your Emmy win for a guest spot on ER in 2005. Thank you. Thank you. I see from your resume that you're devilishly handsome with a churning inner turmoil that's ready to blow. I enjoy what I do. Is that a crime? Not yet it isn't. But is this what it's come to for you? Exploiting tiny, helpless bees so you don't have to rehearse your part and learn your lines, sir? Watch it, Benson! I could blow right now! This isn't a goodfella. This is a badfella! Why doesn't someone just step on this creep, and we can all go home?! Order in this court! You're all thinking it! Order! Order, I say! Say it! Mr. Liotta, please sit down! I think it was awfully nice of that bear to pitch in like that. I think the jury's on our side. Are we doing everything right, legally? I'm a florist. Right. Well, here's to a great team. To a great team! Well, hello. Ken! Hello. I didn't think you were coming. No, I was just late I tried to call, but... the battery. I didn't want all this to go to waste, so I called Barry. Luckily, he was free. Oh, that was lucky. There's a little left. I could heat it up. Yeah, heat it up, sure, whatever. So I hear you're quite a tennis player. I'm not much for the game myself. The ball's a little grabby. That's where I usually sit. Right... there. Ken, Barry was looking at your resume, and he agreed with me that eating with chopsticks isn't really a special skill. You think I don't see what you're doing? I know how hard it is to find the right job. We have that in common. Do we? Bees have 100 percent employment, but we do jobs like taking the crud out. That's just what I was thinking about doing. Ken, I let Barry borrow your razor for his fuzz. I hope that was all right. I'm going to drain the old stinger. Yeah, you do that. Look at that. You know, I've just about had it with your little Mind Games. What's that? Italian Vogue. Mamma mia, that's a lot of pages. A lot of ads. Remember what Van said, why is your life more valuable than mine? Funny, I just can't seem to recall that! I think something stinks in here! I love the smell of flowers. How do you like the smell of flames?! Not as much. Water bug! Not taking sides! Ken, I'm wearing a Chapstick hat! This is pathetic! I've got issues! Well, well, well, a royal flush! You're bluffing. Am I? Surf's up, dude! Poo water! That bowl is gnarly. Except for those dirty yellow rings! Kenneth! What are you doing?! You know, I don't even like honey! I don't eat it! We need to talk! He's just a little bee! And he happens to be the nicest bee I've met in a long time! Long time? What are you talking about?! Are there other bugs in your life? No, but there are other things bugging me in life. And you're one of them! Fine! Talking bees, no yogurt night... My nerves are fried from riding on this emotional roller coaster! Goodbye, Ken. And for your information, I prefer sugar-free, artificial sweeteners made by man! I'm sorry about all that. I know it's got an aftertaste! I like it! I always felt there was some kind of barrier between Ken and me. I couldn't overcome it. Oh, well. Are you OK for the trial? I believe Mr. Montgomery is about out of ideas. We would like to call Mr. Barry Benson Bee to the stand. Good idea! You can really see why he's considered one of the best lawyers... Yeah. Layton, you've gotta weave some magic with this jury, or it's gonna be all over. Don't worry. The only thing I have to do to turn this jury around is to remind them of what they don't like about bees. You got the tweezers? Are you allergic? Only to losing, son. Only to losing. Mr. Benson Bee, I'll ask you what I think we'd all like to know. What exactly is your relationship to that woman? We're friends. Good friends? Yes. How good? Do you live together? Wait a minute... Are you her little... bedbug? I've seen a bee documentary or two. From what I understand, doesn't your queen give birth to all the bee children? Yeah, but... So those aren't your real parents! Oh, Barry... Yes, they are! Hold me back! You're an illegitimate bee, aren't you, Benson? He's denouncing bees! Don't y'all date your cousins? Objection! I'm going to pincushion this guy! Adam, don't! It's what he wants! Oh, I'm hit!! Oh, lordy, I am hit! Order! Order! The venom! The venom is coursing through my veins! I have been felled by a winged beast of destruction! You see? You can't treat them like equals! They're striped savages! Stinging's the only thing they know! It's their way! Adam, stay with me. I can't feel my legs. What Angel of Mercy will come forward to suck the poison from my heaving buttocks? I will have order in this court. Order! Order, please! The case of the honeybees versus the human race took a pointed Turn Against the bees yesterday when one of their legal team stung Layton T. Montgomery. Hey, buddy. Hey. Is there much pain? Yeah. I... I blew the whole case, didn't I? It doesn't matter. What matters is you're alive. You could have died. I'd be better off dead. Look at me. They got it from the cafeteria downstairs, in a tuna sandwich. Look, there's a little celery still on it. What was it like to sting someone? I can't explain it. It was all... All adrenaline and then...and then ecstasy! All right. You think it was all a trap? Of course. I'm sorry. I flew us right into this. What were we thinking? Look at us. We're just a couple of bugs in this world. What will the humans do to us if they win? I don't know. I hear they put the roaches in motels. That doesn't sound so bad. Adam, they check in, but they don't check out! Oh, my. Could you get a nurse to close that window? Why? The smoke. Bees don't smoke. Right. Bees don't smoke. Bees don't smoke! But some bees are smoking. That's it! That's our case! It is? It's not over? Get dressed. I've gotta go somewhere. Get back to the court and stall. Stall any way you can. And assuming you've done step correctly, you're ready for the tub. Mr. Flayman. Yes? Yes, Your Honor! Where is the rest of your team? Well, Your Honor, it's interesting. Bees are trained to

Your 15-minute Thursday report in 3946 words.

Pashinyan' message about past, present, and future

Armenia is living in extremely difficult days. There is sorrow in the hearts of all of us, tears in our eyes, and pain in the souls. The agreement to end the war, signed on November 10, caused public despair and raised many questions, to which I am expected to answer.
Why was such an unfavorable document signed? It happened in the conditions when the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia was reporting that the war should be stopped ASAP, and the Artsakh President was warning that if the hostilities continued, we could lose Stepanakert in days, in some scenarios, even in hours.
Some of you might say that if we already lost Hadrut, Shushi, we could have lost Stepanakert and not much would have changed. The reality is a little different, because if Stepanakert was lost, which, as Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan had already publicly confirmed would happen, then Askeran and Martakert would inevitably be lost.
In the beginning, these regions were located in the rear, quite far from the front lines, and did not have defensive structures and fortifications, and there were not enough fighting forces that could defend these areas.
This would lead to our 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7th defense zones being encircled, along with 20,000 soldiers who would either die or become POWs. Kalbajar and Qashatagh would also fall. There would be a total loss.
The most important function of the commander is to set tasks for the soldier, with a specific tactical or strategic goal. The commander sets these tasks often realizing that their implementation can lead to the death of soldiers. Being de-facto the Commander-in-Chief, I have set such tasks for the army.
But when a situation arises when a soldier can not in any way influence the further course of events, it is no longer the soldier who must die for the sake of the homeland, but the homeland must make sacrifices for the sake of the soldier.
With this in mind, I signed the infamous document. I realized that the probability of me being killed for signing it is very high but the lives of 25,000 soldiers were more important. The encircled soldiers would not have had enough force to make a breakthrough.
The decision had to be made within hours. We had no days and weeks.
Some of you are wondering why I didn't resign instead of signing it. Because that would be desertion on my part. That would mean shifting all the burden on someone else's shoulders, and today you would be calling me a hero and someone else a traitor. Also, the decision had to be made within hours.
The next question is why I didn't consult with the public before signing it. It's simple. I would have to give you the honest details and reveal all our weaknesses, while the battles continued, while the enemy was watching. That would have given them valuable info on how to encircle our troops.
Also, I promised to discuss with the public the options for the settlement of the Karabakh issue. This document does not completely end the conflict, but only a cessation of hostilities. The Karabakh issue was not resolved and is not resolved, and in this regard, there is still work to be done.
Why couldn't we prevent the war, or stop it at the initial phase, if the outcome was going to be similar? Because that would mean giving away 7 regions, including Shushi, without a fight. The second reason is we believed that by involving new military resources and hard work, we could make a breakthrough.
This is why Artsakh President and I had been making speeches with calls to enlist in the army. We had to do this in a way not to spread panic and demoralize our front line soldiers and without revealing our weaknesses to the enemy.
Everyone has done everything possible to save every inch. Our soldiers fought heroically. They fought to win and not give up. They fought against 3 armies.
Unfortunately, as Artsakh president said yesterday, we didn't help the army sufficiently. Volunteer and mobilized troops, of course with many heroic episodes, did not end up being strong enough to solve the problem. There was no other solution.
The agreement is bad for us but there is no need to make it worse. I've seen rumors about giving away Armenia's Meghri region, which is absolute nonsense. It's only about removing the transport blockade on Nakhijevan (Azerb.)
That also means we can connect Yerevan to Syunik province through Nakhijevan. We will be able to connect to Iran via railway, which will have a significant positive impact on our economy. [BTW, Turkey has already announced willingness to build a railway through Armenia to connect to Azerbaijan, so this idea looks serious.]
As for the part of Karabakh that will remain under Armenian control, we can connect to it via the Lachin corridor, including in the area near Shushi. Peacekeepers will also guarantee civilians security. It's important for refugees to return to their homes now. The government of Armenia and Artsakh will do everything to quickly recover the damage.
The issue of the final settlement of the Karabakh and the status of Artsakh is of fundamental importance. Artsakh's recognition is becoming an absolute priority and, in fact, there are more weighty arguments for the international recognition of Artsakh.
Within Armenia, we must have a stable environment. At this moment, we must ensure, first of all, that the people fully master their inalienable right to form a government, to have power. The government will not tolerate the violent provocations by the groups sponsored by the former regime. Many organizers are already under arrest. Others are in hiding.
I call on all our compatriots not to give in to provocations, and to unite around the government that is determined to help bring the country out of this situation, while guaranteeing that no one will seize power to plunder and return the country to a whirlpool of corruption.
We are reaping the bitter fruits of that robbery and corruption today. When for decades, the country's wealth had flowed into the pockets of familiar people and not to the development of the army.
Dear people, our country has a future, and we must do everything we can to make this cruel ordeal of ours an important cornerstone of that future. We as a nation will learn from the mistakes we have made.
Many will ask if we can talk about a good future after this brutal war. Yes, because there are some countries in the world today that have undergone the most brutal capitulations of the 20th century, but today are among the most powerful countries in the world.
They developed with an emphasis on education, science, industry, and democracy, and this should be our next step. And I urge all of us to focus on what we can do to strengthen our country. This will be our best service to the memory of our martyrs, our wounded and disabled servicemen and their families.
Of course, the families of the victims have to ask us a question: why did their relatives die in the end? The answer to this question is one: to save the people of Artsakh from genocide, to protect the right of the Armenian people to live. Our homage to them is the daily creative work and education that should improve our country.
Long live Freedom, Long live the Republic of Armenia, Long live the Republic of Artsakh. And long live our children who will live in a Free and Happy Armenia. I bow to our martyrs.

few things from earlier

Artsakh president explained yesterday that, at some point, desertion became a big issue due to low morale among non-regular troops (volunteers, reservists, etc.) and commanders leaving their positions.
A Facebook user Arbak Akopian uploaded a video showing desertion by at least 150 soldiers. Date and location unclear. Their commander allegedly ordered them to leave.
The uploader, without evidence, claims that it's the incident when someone approached the troops and told them "the whole war was a conspiracy and Pashinyan was just giving away the lands, go home."
There was such an incident that led to one person (allegedly a friend of Vitaliy Balasanyan) being arrested. No evidence this video is related to that arrest. There are reports of low morale in the south and northern fronts. It has been reported by MoD that the battles were very heavy.

peacekeepers & troops in Artsakh

Russian peacekeepers will use Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters besides surveillance drones to monitor the activities. They were flown to Armenia with a cargo jet yesterday.
414 soldiers have been stationed so far, out of 2k. More have arrived in Armenia's Goris city for future deployment. The first troops arrived in Stepanakert today.
The troop rotation will happen at least twice a year. "They have peacekeeping experience in Syria and elsewhere."

about the Russian helicopter shot by Azerbaijan

Azeri official: In war, as in war, anything can happen. (պատերազմում, ինչպես պատերազմում, ամեն ինչ կարող է պատահել)
Russian MFA: That's a big mistake. If we adhered to that principle, our response would have been crushing. We hope Azerbaijan won't allow itself similar ambiguous statements regarding this tragic incident anymore. Russia has accepted Azerbaijan's apology and confession. We expect a speedy investigation.

the political turmoil continues

00:35 ruling QP party about calls to cancel the Agreement: The war began due to geopolitical events, which led to the collapse of several ceasefire deals. Accepting the Agreement was the only solution to save the rest of Artsakh and thousands of lives.
The public should receive the answers to their questions, but we won't join the committee suggested by the opposition parties because that would endanger lives on front lines.
Before we discuss the topic of the legality of this Agreement, we demand that the opposition parties publicly announce that they:
1) Support the cancellation of Russian mediation.
2) Support the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers.
3) Support the resumption of war.
After they publicly state this, the opposition must then present their ideas on how to win the war upon its resumption.
https://news.am/arm/news/612858.html
"We have nothing else to lose. We will continue this struggle until we can shed a light of hope in this darkness," said an opposition ARF member.
"We are not against peacekeepers. We come to find a way out of this situation," said another ARF member.
Other opposition parties also criticized QP's message, saying "the party is deepening the crisis by refusing to use constitutional methods [Parliamentary session to revoke Agreement] to resolve the crisis."

Among the detained are BHK Tsarukyan, Garnik Isaghulyan, Gegham Manukyan, Davit Hambardzumyan, Arthur Vanetsyan, Edward Shawarmazanov, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, and few others.
They are told not to leave the country as part of the ongoing investigation. [meaning at least some of them will be released for now]
A new demonstration will be held today at 5 pm. The opposition believes the internet will be shut down today to stop them [later update: there were no reports of internet shutoffs].

The ex-NSS chief urged the opposition to calm down, saying he knows Pashinyan and the position he was in, and that "he is an honest and patriotic person, and so is his family, and so are the people protesting on the streets."
He called for new elections that will decide whether the public agrees with Pashinyan or not.

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov's comments about the agreement and past negotiations

The current phase of the conflict began after, for a long period, negative and emotional statements were accumulated. It would have been better if the conflict was resolved a lot sooner based on OCSE Minks Group principles.
If we went with that OCSE suggestion, that would still return 7 regions to Azerbaijan, but it would be done without shedding blood and it would be a final political solution.
At one point in the past, both sides had agreed with the measures that would establish physical safety, but more recently, the safety was questioned. There were complaints that the measures would not establish enough safety if 7 regions were returned to Azerbaijan. Both sides began making emotional and aggressive statements. Clashes began on the borders.
Karabakh's Status depends on the steps we are yet to take to restore the ethno-confessional agreement, as it was years before the 1990s war. The Status will be clarified only after it's clear what rights will past/current populations have. For now, we need to rebuild trust and inter-ethnic peace. We need to rebuild the churches and mosques and allow residents to live peacefully.
We see the demonstrations in Yerevan. We see how the opposition is trying to speculate on this situation. Undoubtedly, there are sincere people for whom it is insulting that everything ended at this stage.
It was illusions that the 7 regions of Karabakh should have remained for centuries in that state. Responsible [Armenian] governments should have explained to the public that, at some stage, the conflict was supposed to be resolved based on the documents that were on the table. These documents pave the way for security for Armenians living in Artsakh.
Of course, the removal of the transport and economic blockade on Armenia will positively affect Armenia's development. It suffered more from the blockade than its neighbors did.
This agreement restores those communication channels. The economy should get a breath of fresh air. There should be transport communication with Armenia's partners.
I'm confident that if we all follow the agreement, everyone will come out in a favorable position.
Yesterday Vladimir Putin spoke with PM Pashinyan and today with MFA Mnatsakanyan. I'm sure the Armenian govt understands the responsibility and will respect the signature in the interest of its people.
In any case, I see many political forces in Armenia who understand what is happening and draw the right conclusions from it.
There won't be Turkish peacekeepers in Karabakh. The Turkish-Russian joint monitoring center will be away from Karabakh and work remotely. They'll monitor to make sure neither side violates the ceasefire.

foreign response

Vladimir Putin's spokesman Peskov: Vladimir Putin praised the constructive approach of Tayyip Erdogan, which will resolve the disagreements. Initially, we had disagreements over the peaceful settlement of this conflict but our cooperation showed effectiveness in solving various regional problems.
https://news.am/arm/news/612953.html
US Congressman Bred Sherman: Russian-Turkish conditions aimed at ending Azerbaijan's aggression against Artsakh and Armenia are unfair. The inaction of the Trump administration has led to catastrophic consequences for the people of Armenia.
Who made this ceasefire agreement? None other than Putin and Erdogan. This is the result of the absence of US leadership. We must not stand by this catastrophic deal that has been imposed on Armenia. We should not consider it a final settlement.
https://armenpress.am/arm/news/1034644.html
MFA of Canada: We are working with international partners to study the terms and consequences of this agreement. We continue to support the Armenian people, with whom we have strong human ties.
We expect Azerbaijan to respect its commitments and permanently end hostilities. Turkey must refrain from participating in the conflict. All parties must negotiate a lasting and peaceful agreement within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

Hadrut is one of the southern cities in Artsakh captured by Azerbaijan. Hadrut refugees gathered in front of the French embassy and asked for action, reminding that France had acknowledged the presence of terrorists brought by Azerbaijan.
French embassy welcomed the gatherers, accepted their letter, and said "Our priority is to support the people who have suffered as a result of this conflict. We will take into account what French President Macron said yesterday about defending Armenia's interests."
The refugees then went to the U.S. embassy and handed over a letter that calls for the U.S. to "de-occupy Hadrut from terrorists". They'll meet ambassador Lynne Tracey.
They also went to the Russian embassy with a similar message.

US Representative Frank Pallone: The International Community must finally recognize the right to self-determination for the people of Artsakh and their role as negotiators. Without that, they will continue to face future assaults by Azeri and Turkish forces without any option of formal redress.
Any future negotiated settlement supported by the U.S. must ensure the people of Artsakh can reconstruct their communities and rebuild their lives without fear of further bloodshed. The terms laid out in the current ceasefire are untenable for Artsakh's long-term security.
The ceasefire signed earlier this week regarding Nagorno Karabakh isn't a long-term peace settlement. There are many critical issues that must be resolved before this conflict can come to a lasting resolution. @StateDept must immediately reengage with @OSCE to address them.

schools to resume

Education Ministry: studies show that COVID has significant negative effects on education. It leads not only to irreversible gaps in the development of children but also reduces their social protection.
University/college students will take online classes only, except for hands-on classes.

Sadly, Yara had a miscarriage, but the whole experience strengthened their feelings and commitment. Now Yara is getting ready to move stateside, but Jovi’s mother wonders if she’ll be able to fit in with his wild outdoor lifestyle and his friends wonder if he’s serious about giving up the bachelor life.

Stephanie spoils Ryan with gifts and supports him and his family with their rent, however, they bicker over his flirtatious tendencies but Ryan believes he’s not doing anything wrong while Stephanie becomes jealous. Andrew, 32 (Roseville, CA) and Amira, 28 (France)
Andrew created an online dating profile when he decided that he was ready to settle down and start a family. He heard from many women and almost overlooked Amira’s brief message but reached out to her. They both felt an instant connection and made plans to meet for a romantic week in Las Vegas, where Andrew proposed. Afterwards, they filed for the K-1 Visa and got approved, but find that they must go to great lengths getting Amira into the U.S. during Covid-19 before their visa expires.

OLD COUPLES
Tarik, 46 (Virginia Beach, VA) and Hazel, 28 (Philippines)
When we last caught up Tarik and Hazel on BEFORE THE 90 DAYS, Tarik had traveled to meet Hazel in person and did everything he could to try and fit into her culture. We saw them get engaged with a romantic proposal and saw Tarik head back to the U.S. Now, Hazel is moving to begin her 90 days with plans to bring her eight-year-old son Harry to America as soon as she can. After revealing that she is bisexual, Hazel now plans to find an American girlfriend to add to she and Tarik’s relationship. However, we find out a bit about Tarik and Hazel’s past that complicates this idea.
Mike, 35 (Sequim, WA) and Natalie, 35 (Ukraine)
Last season we met Mike and Natalie after they were introduced by mutual friends. They fell in love, but we also watched them deal with everything from trust issues, major differences and uncertainty about their own feelings. Despite everything, their love for each other encouraged them to apply for the K-1 Visa and Mike went to the Ukraine while they waited for it to process. This time around things are moving quickly as Natalie finds out that she must move to the U.S. within 20 days of receiving her visa. With how they left things last time, Mike is taken aback that everything is moving so fast and wonders if they’ll be able to sort out all of their issues with only 90 days to commit to marriage.
Rebecca, 49 (Woodstock, GA) and Zied, 27 (Tunisia)
Last time we caught up with Rebecca and Zied in BEFORE THE 90 DAYS, they became engaged and were starting the K-1 Visa process. Now, Rebecca is anxiously awaiting the final step in the K-1 Visa process – Zied’s interview. If everything goes as planned, Zied will be on his way to the U.S. Rebecca has gotten a new job and is working overtime to support Zied financially when he arrives. Like last time, Zied’s conservative religious beliefs create conflict in their relationship, causing Rebecca to be suspicious that she is being scammed again. Rebecca’s daughter Tiffany and her boyfriend Micah worry that Rebecca is making the same mistake again and that this relationship, like her last marriage with a foreigner, will not work out.

2020.11.04 02:14 jlewiss93 Seeking Advice about Attending a Wedding (California)

Two of my best friends from college are getting married in a couple weeks in a red-tier county in Southern California (although the city is right on the border of a purple-tier county). I am from Northern California (in an orange-tier county) and take the virus very seriously. I don't hang out with people outside of my household, don't go out to eat, and only go places for necessary errands. However, I am supposed to be in the wedding party (which I committed to before COVID) so I planned to go to the wedding, wear a mask at all times, and quarantine myself for two weeks after the wedding just in case. I've been having second thoughts and getting more nervous as the wedding date gets closer, though. I'm not sure how many people will be attending the wedding, but a conservative estimate would probably be at least 60-70 people. It is an outdoor wedding, but people will be coming from several different states (many from different areas of CA, quite a few people from TX, some from OR, some from WA, etc.). There will be an outdoor reception following the wedding ceremony, even though it looks like according to CA guidelines, wedding receptions are not allowed. To get to the wedding, I will have to fly down to SoCal in a plane and take a 1.5 hour drive in an uber. I will also have to stay in a hotel for two nights and then will take another uber back to the airport and fly home. That in and of itself makes me nervous. I'm also nervous about potentially exposing the uber driver on my way back to the airport and the people near me on my 2-hour flight home on Sunday if I get exposed to the virus on Friday. One of my friends who is not invited to the wedding has offered to drive me down, stay in a hotel, and drive me back to mitigate that risk. It is a very kind offer, but if I am exposed to COVID at the rehearsal dinner on Friday, I don't want to risk even a slight chance of exposing this friend on the 10.5 hour drive back on Sunday (I've tried to find a definitive answer regarding how long after exposure people are contagious, but I haven't found anything conclusive). Another concern is that many people attending the wedding think just being outside makes it safe. I highly doubt people will be wearing masks at all times, and even if they wear masks most of the time, they will definitely be off while eating during the reception. Moreover, although I am a "groomsman," I am female and the bride wants me to get my makeup done with the bridesmaids so it is cohesive for pictures, meaning someone will be in my face putting on makeup for me while I am not wearing a mask. I probably won't be able to wear my mask for wedding-party pictures either. This whole thing seems super unsafe to me, but please let me know if I am being overly concerned.
That all being said, it is sooo close to the wedding. Canceling two weeks out is bad enough as a guest, but I'm literally in the wedding. If I don't go, I will absolutely offer to pay for whatever costs would have been associated with my attendance (my food, makeup, etc.) but I know that a member of the wedding party dropping out last minute ruins a lot of logistical things for the ceremony, pictures, etc. and is very inconsiderate. Additionally, my friends really do think they're being safe and there are some people attending who are at higher risk for COVID (pregnant, elderly, etc.), so I'm nervous about telling them I've now realized I don't feel comfortable going despite being 29 and healthy. To make matters worse, I started a very demanding job a little over a year ago and have flaked on these friends (and many others) last minute several times over this last year due to work obligations. They always expressed their disappointment but were kind and understanding. I don't know if that understanding will extend to such an important day for them, especially after I've flaked on so many other things lately. Due to all of this, I feel like I am very much obligated to attend the wedding, but I really don't feel safe doing so. I wish I would've realized sooner how nervous I am about attending, but I can't change that at this point. The only thing I can do is apologize profusely and let my friends know ASAP so it's not even closer to the wedding date. So my options are either: (1) be a terrible friend and don't attend the wedding or (2) go to the wedding to make my friends happy even though I don't feel safe.
If you've made it this far, thank you so much for reading this long, rambling post. I would really appreciate any advice y'all are willing to offer. Should I go to the wedding to avoid being inconsiderate or should I stay home since we're in the middle of a pandemic? If I end up not going, does anyone have any advice as to the best way to tell my friends (in addition to being extremely apologetic)?

2020.11.03 17:08 rusticgorilla Lost in the Sauce: The grift grows stronger as Trump's election prospects dim

There was a lot to cover for Lost in the Sauce, so I’m splitting it into two posts. This is part one, focusing on the most recent reporting regarding Trump’s campaign and how he has profited off the presidency.
Housekeeping:

Trump money and properties

Deutsche Bank is reportedly seeking to cut ties with President Donald Trump after the election. According to Reuters, bank executives are tired of “the negative publicity stemming from the ties” to the Trump family. Deutsche Bank could seek to sell or demand repayment of about $340 million in outstanding loans to the Trump Organization.
After initially planning on an election night party at his own hotel, Trump changed venues and will now host a 400-person gathering in the East Room of the White House. The decision was reportedly made due to D.C. coronavirus restrictions and a lack of campaign funds. Instead, taxpayers will foot the bill to have the event on federal property. Trump’s hotel was sold out before the change of venue, meaning the president gets his big party and profits from his business.
  • There will still be some Trump figures at his D.C. hotel, down the street from the White House, and Trump has teased stopping by.
  • We do not know the precise cost of rooms for election night at Trump’s hotel, but CNBC suggests “standard guest rooms are going for over $1,000 per night, and the more expensive suites are going for just under $2,000.” Watchdog group CREW states that a basic room the night after the election costs nearly 5 times the average cost: a spoke from around $331 to $1,600.
The campaign to re-elect Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) appears to have received a deep discount on lodging at Trump International Hotel in Washington during the RNC in August. Such a discount would violate federal election law barring corporations from contributing directly to campaigns.
At least 150 foreign government officials have paid visits to Trump properties. One diplomat said: “Why wouldn’t I stay at [Trump’s] hotel blocks from the White House, so I can tell the new president, ‘I love your new hotel!’ Isn’t it rude to come to his city and say, ‘I am staying at your competitor?’”
The Department of Defense has nearly doubled its spending at a Scotland Airport over the past 18 months. The unprecedented level of US defence spending at Prestwick will also raise further questions about whether US aircrews are continuing to stay at the US president’s loss making Turnberry resort, located just 23 miles south of the airport. Furthermore, Prestwick’s parent company has received nearly £25m from the Trump administration.
  • Reminder: As of Sept. 2019, the U.S. Air Force had lodged crews at Trump’s Turnberry resort up to 40 times. An uptick in spending at Prestwick makes it likely that the DoD is spending more at Turnberry, as well, lining the president’s pockets.
Newly-obtained financial documents obtained by WaPo show at least $2.5 million in taxpayer funds have been spent at Trump properties. Much of that spending was triggered by Trump’s travel, or the travel of his family and aides. Highlights:
  • When Trump hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mar-a-Lago in April 2017, Trump hosted a formal dinner at the club - Trump charged the government more than $7,000 for the 30-person dinner, including charges for wine, floral arrangements and decorative potted palm trees. The bill appears to include Trump’s own meal.
    • During Xi’s visit to Mar-a-Lago, State Department records show, a group of White House staffers kicked the bartender out of a bar at Mar-a-Lago and served themselves. The club later sent the government a bill for what they drank: 54 drinks of tequila, vodka and bourbon at $15 or $16 each, plus service charge.
    • Their first meeting was a brief one on the couch in Mar-a-Lago’s central living room. No food was served. But Trump’s club charged taxpayers for each glass of water at $3 a pop.
  • In April 2018, Trump hosted Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at Mar-a-Lago. The club sharply increased its charges for flowers, billing the government $6,000 for two days’ work. The florist signed a non-disclosure agreement.
  • Trump’s club in Bedminster, N.J., charges the Secret Service $17,000 a month, every month, from May to November each year.
The son of former Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy helped Donald Trump in 2005 secure nearly $700 million in loans to construct a skyscraper in Chicago, despite Trump’s reputation for defaulting on business loans. Justin Kennedy, who ran Deutsche Bank’s commercial real estate team and was close with Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, was "drawn to Trump's risk-taking and glamour.”
The relationship paid off later when the Trump administration convinced Justice Kennedy to retire and make way for Justice Brett Kavanaugh's appointment to the bench:
"Trump's flattery was part of a coordinated White House charm offensive designed to persuade the ageing justice — for years, the Court's pivotal swing vote — that it was safe to retire, even with an unpredictable man in the Oval Office."
Last year, Trump disclosed $61,045 in “consulting fees” that are apparently related to Trump Organization projects. It appears that Trump was paid for services he performed for his business while he also served as president. “The mere fact that a president might be engaged in for-profit consulting on the side is cause for concern.”
CREW estimates that special interests seeking to gain favor with the administration have likely spent more than $13 million at President Trump’s businesses since he took office. Such groups have hosted or sponsored 137 events at Trump properties since his inauguration.

Trump campaign

Trump’s top campaign strategist has been hiding payments from a Steve Bannon nonprofit under investigation & taking campaign salary through another firm. Additionally, Jason Miller made as much as $99,000 in one month, but paid as little as $500 in child support.
Trump’s campaign is making the default option for campaign contributions a repeating weekly donation that will continue through mid-December. Such a boost in post-election donations would help the campaign pay off debts that may carry over from the present until after the results have been declared.
Trump’s campaign has struggled to come up with money in the last stretch of the election, after wasting the majority of its $1 billion in funds. In January, Trump spent $10 million on a Super Bowl ad when he didn’t even have a Democratic challenger. Nearly $100,000 [was] spent on copies of Donald Trump Jr.’s book Triggered, which helped propel it to the top of the New York Times bestsellers list.
  • The AP report also lists: $912,000 spent on ads that ran on the personal Facebook pages of Parscale and Trump spokesperson Katrina Pierson. A $250,000 ad run during Game 7 of the 2019 World Series, which came after Trump was booed by spectators when he attended Game 5. At least $218,000 for Trump surrogates to travel aboard private jets provided by campaign donors. $1.6 million on TV ads in the Washington, D.C., media market, an overwhelmingly Democratic area where Trump has little chance of winning but where he is a regular TV watcher.
In the final three days of the election, one of the most desirable billboards on the internet — YouTube’s home page — has been devoted exclusively to promote the re-election of President Trump. Working closely with Google last year, the Trump campaign locked in the key dates, including Nov. 1 and Nov. 2, with special early access that it was granted as part of an incentive program for big advertisers.
The Trump campaign still owes El Paso—a city facing a coronavirus disaster—$569,000 for his 2019 rally. “We're told even if we filed suit, chances of collection are slim,” El Paso mayor Dee Margo said. El Paso county has one of the highest covid cases adjusted for population outside of the Dakotas, at 181 cases per million people.
Louis DeJoy gave over $685,000 to Trump’s Republican convention committee just five weeks before he became Postmaster General. Link
In the week leading up to Election day, the Trump campaign put his supporters in dangerous and life-threatening situations, including twice ditching rally-goers in very cold temperatures with no transportation.
  • Hundreds of people who attended Trump’s Omaha rally Tuesday evening spent up to three hours in freezing temperatures waiting for buses to take them back to their cars. Several people who were waiting required medical attention.
  • On Saturday night, thousands of attendees of a Trump rally at the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport in Butler, Pennsylvania, were left waiting for hours for bus transportation back to their cars. Reporters on the scene said the temperature was 41 degrees.
  • Then, the next night, Trump fans were stranded in Rome, Georgia, after not enough buses arrived to ferry people from the president's rallies back to their cars. NBC News Washington reporter Julie Tsirkin tweeted that it was "46 degrees and windy in the area tonight," adding in a second post that "some of the folks left stranded were older and disabled."
  • 17 attendees of Trump’s Thursday rally in Tampa, Florida, required medical attention after spending hours in the 90 degree heat. A dozen people were reportedly taken to the hospital.

Election stunts

The Interior Department released a “propaganda” video praising President Trump’s efforts in office less than a week before the election. Text in the video hailed Trump for “preserving the awesome majesty of God’s great creation” and, in a tweet sharing the production, Interior Secretary David Bernhardt said it celebrated Trump’s “historic feats for conservation.”
“This video seems to be one in a pattern of Interior Department making propaganda video,” watchdog group CREW said. “It seemed to be for the express benefit of President Trump. Tinpot dictators use every resource of their government to keep themselves in power.”
Trump’s three energy and environmental agency heads have been frequently touring swing states in the final month ahead of the election, raising questions about whether the administration is improperly using government resources to boost his reelection bid. Government ethics experts are concerned the travel from these officials could be used to win votes for Trump in key battleground states.
In October, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Andrew Wheeler, Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette, and Interior Secretary David Bernhardt all traveled to battleground states, including Florida, Pennsylvania, and Ohio...A consistent message on many of these trips: Trump’s support for job creation, whether it's for manufacturing in Ohio, agriculture in Florida and Georgia, or energy in Pennsylvania, at a time when the coronavirus pandemic has spurred widespread job losses and talks for a new aid package in Congress have collapsed.
Similarly, White House national security adviser Robert C. O’Brien visited two swing states - MN and WI - days before the Nov. 3 election. In Minnesota, O’Brien attended a roundtable on mining; Both Trump and Pence have visited the area to underscore their support for copper-nickel mining, which Republicans see as a way of motivating voters in the state’s Iron Range to support the president and down-ballot candidates. In Wisconsin, O’Brien visited the Fincantieri Marinette Marine shipyard to tour the facility and meet employees; O’Brien praised the shipbuilders for helping rebuild the U.S. military, a key talking point for Trump on the campaign trail.
House Democrats accused FCC Chair Ajit Pai of trying to “influence social media companies’ behavior leading up to an election” by announcing action on Section 230 rulemaking. Trump and his allies have accused social media companies of having an anti-conservative bias and improperly censoring conservative news. House Energy and Commerce Cmte. Chair and Subcommittee Chair: “the FCC’s rush to push President Trump’s agenda weeks before Election Day should be seen for the reckless and politically-motivated stunt that it is.”
Trump's plan to distribute $200 drug-discount cards to all Medicare recipients remains in limbo after officials missed an earlier goal of sending out millions of announcement letters and even some cards by Election Day. Officials say that there are still unresolved concerns about the legality and logistics of the nearly $8 billion plan.
"The program is approved and moving forward," the White House official said on Friday. "Cards will be sent out in the months of November and December," adding that all the cards would arrive by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, the Government Accountability Office has agreed to review the program's legality, according to a letter that GAO sent to Democratic lawmakers on Friday.

2020.11.03 13:27 reverthelp THE COMPANIONS OF THE PROPHET (PBUH)

THE COMPANIONS OF THE PROPHET (PBUH): Abu Bakr (r.a.)
The second greatest person of Islam after the Prophet is Hz. Abu Bakr (r.a.). He was an example of self-sacrifice and a symbol of loyalty. His life is full of examples of high ethics, virtues and humanity.
Hz. Abu Bakr (r.a.) was a luminous person in those times of savagery when the sun of prophethood had not illuminated the world yet. He had never worshipped any idols that were lifeless and unconscious and that could not help or harm anybody or themselves. He did not practice the customs of Jahiliyya Era like drinking alcohol and gambling. He was a person that was loved and respected by everybody in Makkah. He was rich and estimable. He was a tradesman. He liked helping the poor.
Hz. Abu Bakr was a cultured and investigative person who went to various countries on business. He knew and felt that the period he lived in was undergoing a decline in terms of humanistic values.
Hz. Abu Bakr was in a period of expectation. He was waiting for a saviour who would save humanity from savagery. In fact, there were some incidents heralding the light of guidance and indicating its approach that could be seen by careful and thoughtful people. Serious people like Hz. Abu Bakr and those who believed in the religion of oneness dating back to Hz. Ibrahim (PBUH) was waiting and longing for this light.
One of those people was Quss b Saida. He was a poet and an orator. He believed in the oneness of Allah and life after death. Once, he addressed a group of people including Hz. Abu Bakr and the Prophet as follows:
“I swear that there is a religion in the presence of Allah that is more beloved to Him than the religion that you follow. There is a prophet of Allah who is about to appear and his arrival is very soon. His shadow is right on top of your heads. How happy is the person who puts his faith in him! Shame on the unfortunate person who will oppose and rebel against him!“
The most sincere friend of Hz. Abu Bakr, who would attain this religion, informed by Quss b Saida, was Hz. Muhammad (PBUH). Hz. Abu Bakr felt at peace the most when he was with him; he preferred talking to him and relied on him the most. Whenever he left Makkah for a while for trade, the first person he would visit when he returned was Hz. Muhammad.
Once, Hz. Abu Bakr saw in his dream that the moon had descended to Mecca. It then split into segments and spread to the homes in the city. Afterwards, he saw the reassembling of the pieces and the entering of the moon into its own home. This dream made him very excited. He asked some scholars of the People of the Book living in Makkah about his dream. They told him that the prophet expected to come would emerge from Makkah soon, that he would be one of those who followed him and that he would be his deputy when he was alive.
Hz. Abu Bakr was a few years younger than the Prophet. His father’s name was Uthman but he was known as “Abu Quhafa“. His mother’s name was Umm al-Khayr, which means “the mother of all good deeds“. His wife’s name was Zaynab and she was known as Umm Rumman. Abu Bakr had been married to Qutayla before her. After the death of Umm Rumman, he got married to Asma bint Umays.
Hz. Abu Bakr had six children, three girls and three boys: Their names were Aisha, Abdullah, Asma, Abdurrahman, Umm Kulthum and Muhammad.
* * *
Everybody was talking about the news that Hz. Muhammad was given the duty of prophethood. Even some Christians and Jews who read in their books that a new prophet would come were astounded. The polytheists said, “Is it possible for the prophethood to come to an orphan and helpless person? Would it not have been better if it had come to a notable person from our tribe?“ Thus, they opposed his prophethood.
Especially the polytheists could not stand it when the Prophet criticized and spoke ill of their idols.
Meanwhile, Hz. Abu Bakr was in Yemen on business. He was unaware of this event in Makkah. When he returned, the notables of Quraysh like Abu Jahl and Utba bin Muayt surrounded him because they knew that he was the closest friend of Hz. Muhammad. If it were not for Abu Bakr, they would use force in order to silence the Prophet.
Hz. Abu Bakr said, “What is the matter? Did anything happen while I was away?“
They said, “Yes, there is some very important news. Muhammad, the orphan of Abu Talib, claimed that he was a prophet.“
Abu Bakr said, “Did he tell that himself?“
They said, “Yes he did, and he always speaks ill of our idols.“
Abu Bakr said, “He said it himself. If he said so, he told the truth. Do you know where he is now?“
They said, “Yes, he is in his house now.“
Hazrat Abu Bakr immediately went to the home of the Prophet. He wanted to hear it from the Prophet himself. For, he knew that Hz. Muhammad had never told a lie. Therefore, people called him “Muhammad al-Amin“ (Muhammad the Trustworthy).
Hz. Abu Bakr went to the presence of the Prophet in excitement. When the Prophet opened the door, he was smiling. For, he knew that the only person to believe him would be Abu Bakr.
Abu Bakr asked,“ O Aba’l Qasim! Is it true that you claim to be a prophet?“
The Prophet said, “Yes. O Abu Bakr! I am a messenger who has been sent to you and all humanity by the Lord of the Realms. I invite humanity to believe in the one true God (Allah) and to give up worshipping idols.“
Upon this invitation, Hz. Abu Bakr did not hesitate even for a second. He said,
“I testify that Muhammad is a messenger of Allah, who is one.“ Thus, Hz. Abu Bakr attained the honour of being the first Muslim among men.
As Hazrat Aisha put it, no event in the world made our Prophet happier than Hazrat Abu Bakr, a reliable, respectable and notable person of his tribe, accepting Islam.
Our Master (PBUH) considered Abu Bakr’s not showing any sign of hesitation in the face of this invitation as a huge virtue by saying:
This incident alone is enough to express the honour and virtue of Hz. Abu Bakr. As a matter of fact, the Prophet stated the following later:
“Everyone whom I invited to Islam, with the exception of Abu Bakr, paused, hesitated, or was astonished. However, when I explained Islam to him, he neither paused nor hesitated.“ [ al-Bidaya, 3: 30; Sirah, 1: 269. ]
Hz. Abu Bakr opened his heart and mind, which were already ready, to Islam. He gave himself wholly to the grace and abundance of the divine truths that he had been seeking and expecting. He never stayed away from the Messenger of Allah and was looking forward to listening to the new divine revelations. As he filled his heart with the pre-eternal and post-eternal truths, he could not stand still; he wanted to declare it to the universe and desired the others to attain this divine grace and salvation.
When Abu Bakr accepted Islam, he had a wealth of 40,000 dirhams with him. He gave it to the Prophet to be spent for the cause of Islam. On the one hand, Hz. Abu Bakr was conveying the message of Islam to people with his ability of persuasion and proving; on the other hand, he was helping the poor Muslims. Most of the notables of Makkah attained the honour of becoming Muslims thanks to him.
Some of those people are as follows:
Hz. Uthman (r.a.), Talha bin Ubaydullah (r.a.), Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (r.a.), Abu Ubayda bin Jarrah (r.a.), Zubayr bin Awwam (r.a.), Abdurrahman bin Awf (r.a.).
These people are six of the 10 people who were promised Paradise when they were alive. Besides, Uthman bin Maz’un (r.a.), Abu Salama (r.a.), Arkam bin Abi Arkam (r.a.) also became Muslims thanks to him.
The cause of Islam started to eliminate the darkness in the horizon of Makkah gradually with the help and efforts of Hz. Abu Bakr. New people started to be fascinated by the divine light day by day. On the other hand, the polytheists were doing their best in order to dissuade those Muslims. As Islam spread, they increased their measures and started to use material force when they saw that trying to persuade them and mocking them failed to dissuade them. They started to beat the Muslims until they fainted and to torture them.
With the efforts of Hz. Abu Bakr the number of the people that followed the lofty cause of the Prophet reached 38. The Muslims started to gather in the house of Arkam secretly in order to strengthen their belief and worship easily.
Once, they gathered in this house, which was secure to enter and exit. Hz. Abu Bakr was also among them. They asked permission from the Messenger of Allah in order to declare the cause of oneness to the polytheists. First, the Messenger of Allah said their number was not enough but he gave permission due to the insistence of Hz. Abu Bakr. They went to the Kaaba altogether. Abu Bakr (r.a.) stood up and started to address the polytheists who were there:
“I praise Allah, who is one. Belief in Allah is endless happiness; denial and worshipping idols are a disaster. Give up this meaningless custom of Jahiliyyah and accept the call of the Messenger of Allah.“
The polytheists were surprised first. Then, they came to themselves and attacked the Muslims. They got Hz. Abu Bakr to the ground and started to hit him with the things they found. Utba bin Rabia, a ferocious polytheist, made his face blood by hitting him with his shoes with nails. The relatives of Abu Bakr hurried and managed to save him.
Hz. Abu Bakr fainted. He lay in an unconscious state until the evening. When he opened his eyes and looked around, he asked, “What happened to the Messenger of Allah?“ He asked about the Messenger of Allah even when he was half-unconscious. His mother asked, “Would you like to eat something?“ He answered in the same way: “Where is the Messenger of Allah? How is he?“ When his mother said she did not know about him, he said, “Mum! Go to Umm Jamil, the daughter of Khattab and ask him how the Messenger of Allah is.“ Despite the news from Umm Jamil that the Messenger of Allah was fine, his heart was restless. He wanted to see the Messenger of Allah himself. He vowed that he would not eat anything before seeing him. They said he could not go out like that. However, he definitely wanted to go and see the Messenger of Allah. He would not feel all right if he did not see the Messenger of Allah. When there were very few people around, they took his arm and took him to Arkam’s house. When he saw the Messenger of Allah, he said, “O Messenger of Allah! May my mother and father be sacrificed for you!“ and started to cry. The Messenger of Allah hugged and kissed him. He also started to cry when he saw his state. [ Insanu’l-Uyun, 1: 475; al-Bidaya,3: 30. ]
Hz. Abu Bakr was “the most beloved person“ in the eye of the Prophet due to his submission, loyalty and self-sacrifice. The Prophet often visited him in his house and consulted him; he asked his ideas about spreading Islam and conveying the message of Islam. This friendship continued until the Messenger of Allah died. He did not leave the Prophet even for a moment. It continued during wars and the Migration. He married his daughter Aisha off to the Messenger of Allah, strengthening this friendship.
Life started to be unbearable for the new Muslims in Makkah. The pressure of the polytheists increased day by day; their torture continued without stopping. A group of Muslims migrated to Abyssinia with the permission of the Prophet in order to save their religion and lives. When the divine permission was given, the remaining Muslims started to migrate to Madinah in convoys. However, Hz. Abu Bakr had not been given permission to migrate yet. When Hz. Abu Bakr, who was always with him asked the Messenger of Allah about his situation, he said, “O Abu Bakr! Do not hurry! Maybe Allah will give you a friend to migrate together with.“ Abu Bakr understood that he was going to be together with the Messenger of Allah in the Migration, too. There were only Hz. Ali, Hz. Abu Bakr and the Prophet left in Makkah as Muslims.
The polytheists were disturbed by the migration of the Muslims. They did not want to allow the Messenger of Allah to migrate. They gathered immediately. They decided to kill the Messenger of Allah.
However, Allah Almighty informed the Prophet about the situation through Jibril. He appointed Hz. Abu Bakr as the person to accompany him.
The Prophet went Hz. Abu Bakr’s house immediately. They met at the door. Hz. Abu Bakr was excited. He said,
“O Messenger of Allah! May my mother and father be sacrificed for you! What is the matter?“ The Messenger of Allah said that Allah allowed him to migrate to Madinah and that he would go with him. Abu Bakr wept for joy because of attaining the honour of migrating with the Messenger of Allah.
The Prophet asked Hz. Ali to sleep in his bed and he set off with Hz. Abu Bakr secretly. They started to walk toward the mount of Thawr. Hz. Abu Bakr was excited. He was worried that the Prophet would be harmed. The polytheists might have noticed them and been following them. Hz. Abu Bakr forgot about himself; he was thinking about the Messenger of Allah only. He sometimes walked in front of him and sometimes behind him. He sometimes walked on the right and sometimes on the left of the Prophet in order to protect him from possible attacks.
They arrived at the Cave of Thawr late at night. The cave was desolate. It was full of insects. First, Hazrat Abu Bakr entered the cave. He checked the cave and blocked the holes in the cave with pieces of fabric he tore off his garment. When the pieces were not enough, he blocked the last hole by putting his foot on it. Then, the Prophet entered the cave and sat next to him. The Messenger of Allah put his head on the knees of Abu Bakr and fell asleep.
After a while, Hazrat Abu Bakr felt a great pain in his foot that he had put on the hole. He felt terrible. However, he did not move so as not to wake the Messenger of Allah up. He was in so much pain that tears fell down her face. When a few tears hit the face of the Messenger of Allah, he woke up and asked,
“What is the matter, O Abu Bakr?“
Hazrat Abu Bakr said, “O Messenger of Allah! May my mother and father be sacrificed for you! Something bit my foot.“
The Messenger of Allah, who was the cure for all troubles whether material or spiritual, rubbed the place that was bitten with his spit. The pain was eliminated immediately. The Prophet was moved by the self-sacrifice of Hz. Abu Bakr and prayed to Allah as follows:
“O, Allah! Make Abu Bakr be together with me on the Day of Judgment.“
When the polytheists could not find the Messenger of Allah in his house, they got furious and did not know what to do. They promised great rewards to those who would find and bring the Messenger of Allah. Toward the morning, trackers set off in order to find the Prophet and take him to Makkah. As a matter of fact, they found his trace. They even came to the entrance to the cave. Hz. Abu Bakr got excited when he heard the footstep the polytheists. The Messenger of Allah kept calm. He said to Abu Bakr:
“O Abu Bakr! Do not worry! Allah is with us. If Allah is the third person near two people, nobody can do anything to them.“
Thereupon, Abu Bakr calmed down. As a matter of fact, while the polytheists were talking, they saw a spider web and a pigeon at the entrance of the cave; so they left without entering the cave.
The Quran elevated the fame of Hz. Abu Bakr forever while mentioning this incidence in verse 40 of the chapter of at-Tawba. The following is stated in that verse:
“If ye help not (your Leader) (it is no matter): for Allah did indeed help him; when the unbelievers drove him out: he had no more than one companion: they two were in the cave, and he said to his companion “Have no fear, for Allah is with us“: Then Allah sent down His peace upon him, and strengthened him with forces which ye saw not, and humbled to the depths the word of the Unbelievers. But the word of Allah is exalted to the heights: for Allah is Exalted in Might, Wise.“
The Messenger of Allah stayed in the cave for three days with Hz. Abu Bakr, who was a symbol of loyalty and self-sacrifice until he felt secure from the danger of the enemy. During these three days, Asma, the daughter of Abu Bakr brought them food and his son, Abdullah, informed them about the news in Makkah. They came at night and left the cave before the sun rose.
Three days later, they left the cave and set off for Madinah for “the Migration“, which started a new era in the history of Islam. After a dangerous journey, they arrived in Madinah. The Muslims who had migrated beforehand and the people of Madinah filled the streets to welcome these unique guests joyfully. [ al-Bidaya wa’n-Nihaya, 3: 177-180; Tabaqat, 3: 172; Usdu’l-Ghaba, 3: 209-210; Muslim, Fadailu’s-Sahaba, 1; Sirah, 2: 128. ]
Hz. Abu Bakr continued being close to the Messenger of Allah after migrating to Madinah, too. Nothing else could be expected from a person who devoted all of his property to Islam.
Loyalty means to act like the person one loves and follows, to devote all of his being to him and to virtually disappear in him. That is the secret that elevates Hz. Abu Bakr to an unreachable degree. The quality that enabled him to be called “Sıddiq“ (truthful, loyal) was his unique loyalty and adherence to the Messenger of Allah. He believed in everything that the Messenger of Allah said no matter how unbelievable it was.
This quality of Abu Bakr was proved when he believed in the Messenger of Allah as soon as he heard his prophethood and when he affirmed the miracle of Ascension (Miraj).
One night, the Messenger of Allah went to Masjid al-Aqsa (in Jerusalem) from Makkah with Jibril and then to the high realms with the permission of Allah; he returned the same night. The next day, he informed the polytheists about this unique miracle but they did not believe in him. Furthermore, some new Muslims found it hard to believe in it. Those Muslims went to Hz. Abu Bakr immediately. They said,
“Are you aware of the news regarding your friend? He says that last night he went to Masjid al-Aqsa, prayed there, talked to the previous prophets, ascended to the sky and returned.“
Hazrat Abu Bakr wanted to be sure of something. He asked,
“Did you hear this from him?“
They replied, “Yes, we directly heard it from him.“
Hazrat Abu Bakr responded without hesitation:
“If he said so, it is definitely true. I believe in Him and everything he brings from Allah.“
Afterwards, he got up and went straight to the Prophet (PBUH) to listen to the Ascension from him. When the Messenger of Allah told him about this great miracle, Hz. Abu Bakr said,
“I swear by Allah that you tell the truth. For, you are the Messenger of Allah. I testify this again.“
Upon this, the Prophet complimented him by saying,
“O Abu Bakr, you are Siddiq (the Truthful) in any case.“ From that day forward, Hazrat Abu Bakr was referred to as “Siddiq.“ [ Sirah, 2: 39; Insanu’l-Uyun, 2: 92; Tabaqat, 1: 213-216. ]

During the illness of the Messenger of Allah, the Companions visited him frequently. During one of these visits when Abu Bakr was present, the Prophet (PBUH) said,
“Allah Almighty left His slave free to prefer the world or the hereafter. The slave preferred the hereafter.“
Nobody understood what that statement means. Only Hz. Abu Bakr understood that he indicated his death. He started to cry and said,
“O Messenger of Allah! May our fathers, mothers, children, property and lives be sacrificed for you!“
The Prophet was moved by this foresight and sensitivity of Hz. Abu Bakr and said,
“O Abu Bakr! Do not cry! If I had a friend except for Allah, I would have Abu Bakr. Islamic brotherhood and love are superior to personal friendship. Then, he said, “Close all the doors opened for people except the door of Abu Bakr in the mosque.“ [ Bukhari, Fadailu’l-Ashab: 3; Muslim, Fadailu’s-Sahaba: 2-3; Tirmidhi, Manaqib: 15; Usdu’l-Ghaba, 3: 216; Sire, 4: 299; Insanu’l-Uyun, 3: 458. ]
A few days after this talk, the Prophet (PBUH) became too ill to lead the prayer. He said,
“Tell Hz. Abu Bakr to lead the prayer.“
Thereupon, Hz. Abu Bakr led prayers 17 times. Once, he led the morning prayer when the Prophet was among the congregation.

When the Messenger of Allah died, Abu Bakr (r.a.) was somewhere else. People had gathered and were crying. When Abu Bakr (r.a.) heard the news and entered the room where the Messenger of Allah was. Then, he spoke as follows in surrender and reliance:
“We are slaves of Allah and will return to Him. O Messenger of Allah! May my mother and father be sacrificed for you! You were beautiful when you were alive and you are beautiful when you are dead. Allah Almighty will not give you any other grief apart from the severity of death. You have already passed the test of death predestined for you.“
However, the munafiqs did not give up their acts of hypocrisy and troublemaking even during the death of the Messenger of Allah
They tried to undermine the spirituality of the Muslims by saying, “If Muhammad had been a prophet, he would not have died.“
Hz. Umar could not put up with their talk anymore; he drew his sword and shouted:
“The Messenger of Allah did not die. I will kill anyone who says so with my sword.“
Meanwhile, Hz. Abu Bakr arrived and made the following speech due to statement Hz. Umar made in sorrow:
“Allah told His Messenger that he would die when he was alive. Yes, the Messenger of Allah died. Only Allah is eternal.“ Then, he read verse 144 of the chapter of Aal-i Imran:
“Muhammad is no more than a Messenger: many were the Messengers that passed away before Him. If he died or was slain, will ye then turn back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah; but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve him) with gratitude.“
He continued as follows:
“Allah’s religion will live. Allah’s cause has been completed. Allah will help those who follow His religion and try to elevate it. We have the book of Allah with us. It is luminous light and cure. It includes the things that Allah rendered halal and haram.“ [ Bukhari, Janaiz: 123; Ibn Majah, Janaiz: 65, Tabaqat, 2: 265-267; Sirah, 4: 305; Insanu’l-Uyun, 3: 474. ]
Hz. Abu Bakr was chosen the Caliph of the Messenger of Allah unanimously after the talks of the notables of the Companions. For, everybody knew that he was the right hand of the Prophet and appreciated him. One day after Abu Bakr (r.a.) was chosen as the caliph, he made the following historical speech on the pulpit of the mosque:
“O, people. I was entrusted as your ruler, although I am not better than any of you. However, we were taught the Quran and the sunnah of the Messenger of Allah. If we have any knowledge, it originates from them. The caliphate is no easy duty. I had to undertake this heavy burden that I have no strength for. I wish a stronger person had been chosen. I advise you to fear Allah.
O, people! Obey me and support me if I fulfil my duty properly. Correct me when you see me going astray. Honesty is a trust; Lying is treason. The weak among you are powerful in my eyes until I get them their due. Obey me as I obey Allah and His Messenger. Do not obey me if I disobey Allah and His Messenger. I ask Allah to forgive me and you.“ [ Tabaqat, 3: 182-183; Sirah, 4: 311; Insanu’l-Uyun, 3: 483; Hayatu’s-Sahaba, 3: 317. ]
After becoming the Caliph, Hz. Abu Bakr started to fulfil meticulously the duties incumbent on him and as a necessity of his loyalty to the Prophet. The first thing he did was to send the army of Usama to Damascus, which the Prophet planned to do but died before sending it. Some notables of the Companions asked Abu Bakr to postpone sending the army due to the problem of false prophets. He answered them as follows:
“I swear by Allah that I will fulfil the order of the Messenger of Allah even if I know that tigers and wolves will come to Madinah and pull me to pieces. For the Messenger of Allah said, ‘Send the army of Usama in any case.“
Hz. Umar found Usama too young and offered him to appoint an older commander. Abu Bakr said,
“O son of Khattab! How can I change Usama considering that the Messenger of Allah appointed him as the commander?“ [ al-Bidaya, 6: 305; al-Kamil fi’t-Tarikh Translation, 2: 307; Hayatu’s-Sahaba, 1: 314-318. ]
The army of Usama set off upon the instruction of Abu Bakr. They did not encounter Byzantines. However, on the way back to Madinah, they defeated a group from Huzaa tribe. Thus, the order of the Messenger of Allah was fulfilled and big trouble that occurred was eliminated.
Hz. Abu Bakr became the head of the state and the vicegerent of the Messenger of Allah. His daughter Aisha, who was the wife of the Messenger of Allah, stated the following about the caliphate of her father:
“This duty was so hard that it would break mountains into pieces if it fell on them. However, Hz. Abu Bakr fulfilled this hard duty perfectly with the help of Allah and the support of the believers. He consulted the Companions he regarded necessary to talk to related to the issues about which there was no clear evidence in the Quran.“

Hz. Abu Bakr was a very good administrator. He appointed people with knowledge and ability as administrators. For instance, he appointed Abu Ubayda bin Jarrah, whom the Prophet called “the trustworthy person of the ummah“ as an administrator for financial issues. He appointed Hz. Umar, who was a symbol of justice, as the person in charge of legal issues and Zayd bin Thabit, one of the scribes of revelation, as the person in charge of registration and correspondence.
Hz. Abu Bakr walked around the streets at night in order to check the state of the people he was in charge of and helped the poor and helpless people. Salih al-Ghifari narrates the following reminiscence about the issue:
“Hz. Umar undertook the duty of caring for an old blind woman. He took food and drinks to the woman himself. Once, he saw that somebody else had taken care of the woman before him. The next day, he took food and drinks to the woman earlier, hid in a place and started to wait. He saw Abu Bakr, the leader of the believers, coming. He stood up and said,
“Oh! It was you, the leader of the believers!“ [ Hayatu’s-Sahaba, 2: 42. ]
Hz. Abu Bakr gave written and oral advice to governors and army commanders. Once he gave Ikrima the following advice:
“Do what you have said you will do. When you make a promise, keep it. Do not be afraid of warning people but be careful about what to say. Do not punish a criminal more than he deserves. Do not delay the punishment of a person who deserves it.“
After he was chosen as the Caliph, he did not want to get a salary from the Treasury. He wanted to make his living through trade.
Once, he was going to the market for trade after he was chosen as the Caliph. He met Hz. Umar on the way. Hz. Umar offered him to put him on a salary from the Treasury. Hz. Abu Bakr, “I fear that I will not deserve that money.“However, Hz. Umar said his time would be enough only for the affairs of the state and that he would not have enough time for a trade. He persuaded Abu Bakr to get a salary enough for his livelihood from the Treasury. Hz. Abu Bakr got salaries from the Treasury for two years for his caliphate of two years. However, when he died he wrote in his will that this money should be returned to the Treasury from his inheritance. [ Hayatu’s-Sahaba, 2: 148 ]

The services done during the caliphate of Hz. Abu Bakr are as follows in brief:
Before the death of the Prophet (PBUH), some false prophets emerged in Yamama, Yemen and other places. They wanted to dominate their tribes. They took action in order to benefit from the death of the Messenger of Allah. Hz. Abu Bakr sent armies under the command of Khalid bin Walid (r.a.), Ikrima bin Abi Jahl (r.a.), Muhajir bin Abi Umayya (r.a.) and Amr bin As (r.a.) to suppress them. Thus, these troubles were eliminated.
When the Messenger of Allah died, some Arab tribes exited from the religion of Islam. Jews, Christians and munafiqs took action. As Hz. Aish (r.a.) put it, Muslims became like a herd of sheep that scattered due to rain on a winter night. As Abu Hurayra put it, “If it were not for Abu Bakr (r.a.), Muslims would be destroyed after the death of the Messenger of Allah.“ However, with the help of Allah Almighty, Hz. Abu Bakr saved Muslims from these dangerous situations thanks to the skills and abilities Allah Almighty granted him.
Another important service of Hz. Abu Bakr was bringing all of the verses of the Quran together and compiling them in one binding. When a verse was revealed both in the period of Makkah and Madinah, the Prophet summoned one of the revelation scribes and dictated the verse immediately. Thus, the verses that were revealed at various times and places were written on pieces of paper, tanned leather, white, flat stones, scapulas of camels and palm leaves. The Prophet made the revelation scribe read the verse that he wrote in order to check it; if there was anything extra, he would remove it; if there was anything missing, he would add it. Thus, the Quran was written correctly and completely when the Prophet was alive. However, the written copies were not stored in a certain place. The Companions who wanted the copies took them home. The need to bring all of the verses together did not arise because the Prophet was alive and there were a lot of hafizes (the people who memorized the whole Quran). However, when a lot of hafizes were martyred during the Battle of Yamama, this need arose.
The first person to see this need (bringing all of the written verses of the Quran together) was Hz. Umar’. After the Battle of Yamama, he became worried that the number of hafizes would decrease and the copies of the verses would be lost. He talked to Hz. Abu Bakr about it. He offered to bring together all of the copies of the verses of the Quran, which were in different places. At first, Hz. Abu Bakr hesitated because the Prophet had not done so when he was alive. However, he accepted it due to the importance of the issue. They negotiated and decided to bring together all of the copies of the verses of the Quran.
The duty of collecting and compiling the verses of the Quran was given to Zayd bin Thabit, one of the scribes of revelation. Hz. Zayd was in his 20’s then. However, he was one of the Companions that had memorized the whole Quran and that could read it very well.
As soon as Hz. Zayd undertook this holy duty, he took action. He made an announcement and asked those who had verses written on anything to bring to him with two witnesses testifying that they had been written in the presence of the Messenger of Allah. All of the Companions did their best to fulfil this duty. They brought the verses to Hz. Zayd with two witnesses testifying that they had been written in the presence of the Messenger of Allah. Hz. Zayd arranged those verses in the form of chapters.
In about a year, all of the written verses of the Quran which had been in different places were brought together and compiled. Abu Bakr (r.a.) ordered Hz. Zayd to establish a committee consisting of the scholars of the Companions. The compiled verses of the Quran were read in their presence. All of them agreed that they were correct and in order.
Hz. Abu Bakr kept the compiled Quran with him until he died. After his death, it was entrusted to Hz. Umar then to Hz. Umar’s daughter, Hz. Hafsa, who was also one of the wives of the Prophet. [ Bukhari, Fadailu’l -Qur’an: 2. ]
Hz. Abu Bakr prepared armies in order to make the needy hearts to meet Islam. He sent an army under the command of Khalid bin Walid to Iraq. This army gained victories after one another and conquered an important part of Iraq. He planted the flag of oneness there.
After the conquest of Iraq, Hz. Abu Bakr sent Hz. Khalid bin Walid to Damascus. However, he died before receiving the news of the conquest of Damascus. When Abu Bakr died, it was the 13th year of the Migration. May Allah be pleased with him!

Hz. Abu Bakr was a person of taqwa. He always avoided haram and doubtful things.
Once, his servant brought him some food. Hz. Abu Bakr was very hungry; so he ate it without asking the servant where he brought it from. Then, he asked the servant about the food.
He said, “During the Era of Jahiliyya, I wrote a ruqya (talisman) for a woman and she promised me to pay for it later. That was what I brought you.“ Abu Bakr got very angry. He put his fingers down his throat vomited the morsel out. Those near him said, “You put yourself through a great deal of trouble for one morsel.“ he said,
‘If I had to die trying to get this morsel out I would do so; for, I heard the Messenger of Allah say, ‘He whose body is nourished by Haram is bound to burn in hellfire.‘“ [ Hilya, 1: 31 ]

Hz. Abu Bakr was a superior person in terms of worshipping. Once, the Companions were around the Prophet (PBUH). He asked the Companions a question:
“Who amongst you is observing fast today?“
Abu Bakr said, “I am. O Messenger of Allah!“
The Prophet asked again, “Who amongst you has joined a funeral today?
Abu Bakr said, “I have. O Messenger of Allah!“
The Prophet asked again, “Who amongst you has served food to the needy today?
Abu Bakr said, “I have. O Messenger of Allah!“
The Prophet asked again, “Who amongst you has visited a sick person today?
Abu Bakr said, “I have.“ The Messenger of Allah smiled and said,
“A person who has these qualities enters Paradise.“ [ Muslim, Fadailu’s-Sahaba: 12. ]
Hz. Abu Bakr read the Quran beautifully. He read the Quran so movingly that both he himself and listeners cried when he read it. In the first years of Islam, the women, children and slaves of the polytheists gathered around him to listen to the Quran. However, the polytheists prevented them from listening lest they should be Muslims.
He was the most knowledgeable one among the Companions in terms of understanding the Quran and knowing the Sunnah. For, he was together with the Messenger of Allah throughout his life; he aimed to learn Islam and the Quran from the Prophet with all of his feelings and abilities. Therefore, the Messenger of Allah gave him the authority to issue fatwas even when he was alive. Hz. Abu Bakr knew the best what verse was sent down when and upon what incident.
Once Hz. Abu Bakr saw that some Companions misunderstood the following verse: “O ye who believe! Guard your own souls: If ye follow (right) guidance, no hurt can come to you from those who stray…“ (al-Maida, 105) He intervened and said,
“You misunderstand this verse. I heard the Messenger of Allah say the following after reading this verse: ‘If people overlook the oppression of an oppressor and do not prevent him, all of them will be punished.’“ [ Tirmidhi, Zuhd: 60; Musnad, 1: 2. ]
Hz. Abu Bakr was a very rich person. He was also very generous. He was so generous that he sometimes spent all his wealth in the way of Allah. Hz. Umar narrates the following reminiscence regarding the issue:
“Once, the Messenger of Allah ordered us to donate for the cause of Islam. I was well off then. I thought, 'I can be superior to Abu Bakr this time.’ I brought half of my wealth to the Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah said,
‘What did you leave to your family?’ Umar said,
‘As much as I have brought here.’
After a while, Abu Bakr brought his wealth. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) asked him,
‘O Abu Bakr! What did you leave to your family?’ Hz. Abu Bakr said,
‘I left the love of Allah and His Messenger to them.’
Thereupon, I said, ‘I can never be superior to Abu Bakr in charity.'“ [ Usdu’l-Ghaba, 3: 218; Tirmidhi, Manaqib: 16; Hilya, 1: 32. [ ]
The Prophet (PBUH) praised his generosity and self-sacrifice several times. Once, he said, “The most generous person among people in my eye is Abu Bakr in terms of his property and friendship.“
He also said, “There is nobody we have not been able to pay in return for their charity except Abu Bakr. Abu Bakr is so generous that his reward can only be given by Allah on the Day of Judgment.“ [ Usdu’l-Ghaba, 3: 218; Tirmidhi, Manaqib: 16; Hilya, 1: 32. [ ]
There are several hadiths of the Prophet about Hz. Abu Bakr expressing his appreciation and praise. Some of them are as follows:
“The most virtuous person apart from prophets is Abu Bakr.“ [ Faydul-Qadir, 1: 90. ]
Ibn Umar (r.a.) narrates:
“Once, the Prophet (PBUH) left his house and entered the mosque. Hz. Abu Bakr was on his right and Hz. Umar was on his left. He held the hands of both of them and said,
“We will be resurrected like this on the Day of Judgment.“
The following is stated in another hadith:
“If anyone gives sadaqah for the sake of Allah, he will be invited to enter Paradise with these words: 'O beloved servant of Allah. Come here. There is great goodness and abundance at this door.’ Those who perform prayers a lot will be invited to enter by the gate of prayer; those who take part in jihad will be invited to enter by the gate of Jihad; those who give the charity a lot will be invited to enter by the gate of charity; and those who observe fast will be invited to enter by the gate ar-Rayyan.“
Hz. Abu Bakr was there. He asked,
“May my mother and father be sacrificed for you! O Messenger of Allah! Can a person be invited by all doors?“ The Prophet (PBUH) said,
“Yes, it is possible. I hope you will be one of them.“ [ Muslim, Zakat: 86; Tirmidhi, Manaqib: 16. ]
Hz. Abu Bakr reported 142 hadiths from the Prophet. The reason why he did not report more hadiths is the fact that he lived only two years after the death of the Prophet. Besides, his engagement in state affairs prevented him from reporting more hadiths.
One of the hadiths he reported is as follows:
“I advise you to be honest. Stick to honesty. For, honesty and goodness are together and both of them are in Paradise. Beware of telling lies. For, lying is together with evil; and both of them are in Hell. Ask forgiveness and health from Allah. Nothing better than forgiveness and health except belief has been given to anybody. Do not be jealous of one another. Do not nurture enmity toward one another. O slaves of Allah! Be brothers.“[ Musnad, 1: 3, 5. ]

2020.11.02 06:08 ThatTr1F0rceGuy2nd Tales of Specter (Chapter 20, Part 2)

The Time Orb is sealed by a giant container with tubes that powered the Clocktower.
"Hmm, no signs of Axelegore and his Orders..." Specter said. "Maybe they're kinda late..." Darkcrow replied. "I agreed with that. Let's get the Time Orb before he and his orders get here!" Victor said.
"Let's get this open!" Specter said.
They start trying to break it open, but it's too sturdy.
"You can't open the container... " A voice coming from the hallway...
The 12 Months appeared in their back!
"Months!" Darkcrow shouted.
"Don't break that containers! It our heart!" The Months said. "What?" Specter shocked. "You'll kill us! You'll destroy our souls! You must not open it!" The Months said. "What do you mean? We here to save from Axelegore by getting the 12 Orbs!" Specter said. "Orb? You've come to try get the Time Orb?" The Months asked. "Yeah, why?" Specter asked. "I'm afraid not..." The Months sadly said. "What?! You've gotta be kidding!" Specter said.
"Look, you cannot get the Time Orb! It's our heart and all of the Minute from down there! You want the Time Orb! Come and get it!" The 12 Months angrily said as they combined them into The Years!
"I don't think so! You'll have to go back to where you came from! I won't let you stop me from getting the Time Orb!" Specter said.
"SHOW ME! Show me, you're worthy to get the Time Orb!" The Years said.
The Years formed into a giant battle mecha made out of armor and weapons to fight Specter, Darkcrow and the rest.
"HERE WE GO!" Specter shouted!
Specter charged his weapons to the Years!
"I'll take you on for that!" Victor said as he shot a magic bolt from his finger!
The bolt hit Year's chest plate and sent him backwards.
"Argh! They got Magi-Proof armor!" Victor said. "I have the element of surprise! I'll take you on Victor!" Flameflower shouted!
She shoot a fireball at Year's head.
The Year is flinched and blind with all the black smoke come out from Flameflower Fireball! He was trying to get back up... But his head on the helmet was on fire, causing him to lose his balance and fall on the ground.
"Ha ha ha!" Flameflower laughed. The Years use his chain punch to target Flameflower! She dodge a little too late and the chain went through her stomach! She fell backwards on the ground.
"Aagh!" Flameflower hurt! "You alright Flameflower?" Lily asked. "Yeah..." Flameflower said.
The Years get back on his track and change his weapons into Rocket Launcher!
"Come on out Victor, you can't beat me." Years said.
Victor slowly came out of his hiding, while Specter is behind.
"I want that Orb!" Specter shouted.
The Years grabbed Specter arm and throw him into the wall!
"AAGH!" Specter shouted.
Year's turn his back on Specter and charge him, with his rocket launcher raised! "Force Field!" Melody shouted as she cast Force Field to support Specter!
The Years was about to hit Specter with his weapon when his body was stopped by a glowing shield! It wasn't his own personal shield, it's the entire team's shield!
The Years use his Metal Arms to smack Specter Shield! It broke and Specter fell to the floor, then the metal arms grabbed him and threw him on the wall.
"AAAGH!" Specter shouted as he clung to life.
Shiva shoot her bow at The Years back! She hit him in the right shoulder and the impact blew his back, it's like a small bomb just exploded inside his body, knock him to the floor.
"ARGHH!" The Years shouted as his Month splitted into 6 Months!
Melody and Victor charge each other as their weapons clashed with the others! They both seemed stronger than the previous battle, almost like they've had training!
"Stormy Sea Blast!" Melody and Victor shouted as they cast a Water and Electric Magi Fusion! But suddenly, The Years chestplate charged with a Magi-Counter Blast!
The lightning hit Victor, but the Water hit Melody!
"AAGGGHHHH!" Melody shouted as she fell to the floor and rolled in pain.
Darkcrow grabbed Victor and Melody!
"Flameflower! Watch out!" Darkcrow shouted as he ran away with Victor and Melody from Years!
Flameflower shoot a Fire Notes at the Years!
The Years dealed a massive damage to the head! It burned and melted it! And the Year continued to charge, even while having a melted head!
Shiva shoot her arrows at the Years, but they were melted by Years melted head!
The Years transformed into a Flaming Machine! It grabbed Darkcrow with his burning metal hands and threw him to the wall like a ragdoll.
"AAAGGGGHHHH!" Darkcrow screamedas he dropped Victor and Melody from the floors!
Melody cast a Force Field again to Darkcrow! But he was still being crushed by The Year!
"I GOT THIS DARKCROW!" Roger suddenly shouted as he transformed into his Overdrive Mode!
Roger charged his super punch to punched The Years in the Chest!
"Gigalorgigalorg!" The Year said as it's chest was damaged!
"WHAT A WORTHY OPPONENT! BUT I'M NOT DONE YET!" The Years shouted.
The Year began to charge again, but Roger charged himself in an Energy Blades!
"Don't forget about me!" Specter appeared in his back!
But this was not enough to stop The Year! It ordered his minion from his body to grab them!
"This is one of the toughest opponents I've faced!" The Year said. "BUT I'M NEVER GIVE UP FOR MY LIFE!" The Year shouted!
The minions kicked Roger and Specter into the Door, shattering it into Pieces!
"AUGH!" Specter shouted.
The Year charged to Roger and Specter! Darkcrow is appeared behind casting a Shadow Trap from behind!
"INHERIT THE TORMENT OF SHADOWS!" He shouted as the minions were trapped!
"Never!" They shouted as they fought off Shadows!
The Year transformed again into a Shadow Machine! It grabbed Roger and Specter and throw them into the air with their Shadows!
"AUGH!" Specter shouted as his body hit the Floor. It fired a stream of Shadows at Roger and Specter! They could do nothing!
"Gagagaga!" The Year said as it began to laugh manically!
"Lightning Javelin!" Victor throw a Lightning Javelin in his back!
"AUGH!" The Year shouted as he fell to the Back!
"Gilgigigigigig!" The Year began to scream at his groin!
The Year absorbed the Lightning to powered up his body! Victor and Specter were knocked out by the shock of the hit, but are back up quickly!
"You dare attack me with that lightning magi, you ungrateful wretch!" The Year shouted.
"Just give me that stupid Time Orb!" Specter shouted.
"Never! First I'll kill you both then I'll finish off these fools! But you're in the way, you have to die!" The Year said.
"NEVER!" He shouted and transformed again into his Reaper Form!
"You see, I'm going to enjoy killing you, because I am the best and I am the top predator!" The Year said in a sadistic tone.
"DON'T SAY THAT, YOU MAKING ME JEALOUS!" Specter angrily shouted.
"Tch, I don't care. You're going to die." The Year said as he took out his axe and charge towards Specter who was barely dodging the attacks of the other three.
"SOUL SPLIT!" Specter in his Reaper Form split into 2 Specter!
"Gigalol! I'm going to enjoy killing these copies!" The Year laughed as he attacked both of them.
Both Specters combined their attacks while the Year fights off the originals.
Lily appeared and trap the Year with her Demonic Portal!
"Specter, finish him off! Now!" Lily shouted.
"Interesting." The Year said and dodge the attacks of the Specters who were trying to kill him.
"Come on, Let's finish this!" 2 Specters said and charge towards to The Years.
"Shadow Barrier!" The Years blocked them with Shadow Barrier!
"Ha, your little magic tricks won't save you this time!" The Years said.
The Years continued to dodge the attacks of the Specters as he charged towards them, laughing insanely.
"With the Shadow Machine! I can move my body with a light speed!" The Years said.
By now, both of them were next to each other and The Year raised his axe.
"For the Time Orb!" He yelled and swing down his axe.
BAM!
"SPECTER!" Everyone shouted! "Heh, I did it! I killed that thief for the Time Orb!" The Years happily said.
Suddenly...
"WHAT?!" The Years shouted at him. Specter as he on normal self again is holding the axe up, he breathing loudly and shouted "I WILL NOT DIE!"
Then, The Years let go of the neck and drop the axe as his hand exploded.
The Shadow Barrier disappear, too.
The Year is coughing metal parts and situations is serious.
The Years look at him with anger, then falls to the floor and start mumbling things that he couldn't understand.
"WHAT IS THIS?!?" The Year said. "It's the power of the Hades Magi. It's has a power of darkness, death and lost..." Specter explained about his Magi...
"Hmmmmm..." The Years stopped and thinking about himself and said "But you're still not dying... but your hand... and despair from your past and future..."
"It's my gift to save the Lairon Region and my families. To save your life from Axelegore... He will reset this fantasy world into a reality world!" Specter said.
"I don't understand... but this is very powerful." The Year said.
"But, I have to say... You are now worthy to take the Time Orb... Take my life and my risks for our machinery life..."Thanks... Even I am not worthy!" Specter said.
"Don't be so sure of that..." The Year smiled at him for the last time before he takes the Time Orb. Specter slowly walked through the giant containers and grab the Time Orb...
"Hey, little boy... Avenged us from that Axelegore..." The Years happily said as they deactivated in a seconds...
The Years thought that what they have done was for the best of course. But, even if it was for the best, not everything is clear as day. Specter believed that he had to risk his life for this machinery life, why?
Well, because not everything was so bright in his past, present and future.
"I can't believe, He sacrifice himself for you..." Melody sadly said. "Oh, he didn't sacrifice himself for us, for me. He did it for himself, just like I will do everything for myself." Specter said.
Time Orb is glowing with purple electric on Specter Hand... I can feel the power!
He then grabs the Time Orb and throws it into the air with force... And then, he catches it again and then throws it on the open air.
The purple electric is gone, and now it's just a normal purple glow.
"Now, I'm ready to start my next stage of life to defeat Axelegore and save Lairon!" Specter happily said.
Suddenly, The Orders break through the windows!
Gruz trapped Victor, Shiva and Flameflower with his Dark Magi!
Cogwheel with his invention M-6 trapped Darkcrow and Roger!
Sarantos appeared in Melody and Lily back and pointed his Ice-Water Spear!
"NO!" Specter shouted as he got trapped by Dragon Magi! He try to fight back, but he was at his weakest when he was in someone else's grip.
"My... my... What a pity heroes..." Axelegore applause to The Specter Team.
"Too bad loser. Now its time to feed time to maggots!" Gruz says and throw Victor's body on the floor.
"YOU FUCKING BITCH! YOU PLAN THIS ALL ALONG!" Specter angrily said to Dragon!
"Hah! I should've known the second I saw you with that little sparkle in your eyes. I knew you were planning something!" Dragon said.
"Enough, Dragon... Grab that 12 Orbs from the rogue bag and bring it to me..." Axelegore said.
"Yes, Lord Axelegore..." Dragon said and grab the 12 Orbs.
And there it is, the moment of truth.
Dragon brings the 12 orb to Axelegore...
Suddenly, Slick is biting Dragon Hand!
The Glitch Effects cause a shock on Dragon Hand.
"Ahhh!" Dragon shouts as he drop the bag with the 12 Orbs. "STUPID SLIME FREAK!" Dragon kick Slick back to Specter!
"Let's get out of here, stop playing around!" Gruz say and begin running out of the building.
Meanwhile, Specter quickly grabs the bag before anyone stop him!
"I'M NOT DONE WITH YOU, AXELEGORE!" Specter grab his scythe.
"Huh?" Gruz looks back.
As Specter runs to slice through Axelegore, he slip and fall on the floor by Sarantos Magi!
"You cannot grasp the true form of Axelegore!" Gruz said.
"Never! He will fall before the might of my friends!" Specter said and begin to chant...
“So you wanted to avenged your friend, You disgraceful species!” Axelegore replied.
Specter nods.
“Well then…” Axelegore use his Magi to attack Specter and disabled his body. “ARGHHH!” Specter paralyzed by Axelegore Magi! "Dragon and Sarantos. Torture him!" Axelegore commands. "Yes, Lord Axelegore!" they both scream.
"No! No! No! Please!" Specter begged.
Sarantos froze his body with his Magi!
"Let’s have some fun!" Dragon said!
"Hmm, maybe I should hack his body, limb by limb, so he's less trouble." Gruz said. "Hey! I'm not the one you should be hacking up!" Dragon replied. "THEN, IT LIMB BY LIMB!" Dragon chopped his limb off!
"AGHHHHHH!" Specter shouted!
"Haha! I told you, limb by limb!" Gruz laughed.
"STOP IT! YOUR HURTING HIM!" Melody shouted.
Gruz chopping Specter Face with his Dark Magi!
"GRAHHH!" Specter shouted.
Then, Dragon kicked him in the face!
"AGHHH!" Specter screamed in pain as he started crying...
"HE'S TAKING YOU DOWN, SON!" Cogwheel said. "I WILL NOT DIED!" Specter shouted.
While, Dragon put his hand on his forehead and burned it off!
"AHHHH!" Specter screamed again.
"You are a disgrace to your species!" Dragon said.
"ARGHHHH!" Specter screamed in demonic!
"Dragon, you've made your point!" Gruz said.
"Shut it! I'm enjoying this!" Dragon said.
"Revenge deserve No Mercy!" Dragon shouted.
"Haha! You are such a baby!" Gruz laughed.
"Well then... How about your own weakness?" Dragon cast a Holy Magi at him!
"STOP IT! STOP IT! PLEASE!" Specter shout.
Dragon as he started use Holy Magi at him!
Suddenly... "STOP IT! HONEYCAKE!" Melody started crying and shouted as she revealed she was Dragon Ex-Girlfriend...
"WAIT! I HEAR THIS VOICE!" Dragon said.
"SHUT IT!" Gruz shouted.
And so, the torture ends... for now.
"THAT'S ENOUGH! DRAGON! YOU MAKING HIM LIKE A PRISONER!" Melody shouted!
"Yeah? Well he's still my Prisoner! Honeycake!" Dragon said. "ARGH!" Melody said.
"For a while, I notice that you're that Blue Bunny Suits Girl spy from the E.A.S.B and you just run away from your own orders because of your actions! YOU TRAITOR!" Dragon revealed she was the member of The Black Dragon Order...
"I am no traitor!" she shouted. "SILENCE!" Dragon shouted.
"Melody... You're the Black Dragon member..." Specter shocked.
"Yeah... I know." She said with a sigh. "Well, it took you long enough to notice..." Gruz said.
"Shut it, Uncle!" Melody revealed her uncle is Gruz... "Yeah, you're a big disappointment to us! We thought you would've eventually betray your species and join us!" Gruz said. "What are you even doing here?" Specter asked.
"I tell you what happened..." Melody sadly said.
"After my father died from Axelegore... I was raised by Alto, my stepfather to protect me from the outside world..." Melody said.
"Yeah, we know that. You've mentioned him before. But what is with the Black Dragons?" Specter replied.
"Well, when I was 18 years old... I got bullied from the bully from my 18th birthday... They splat my face on a cake, splatter me with pig blood, spill me with bowl of punch, It's always happened every single time... I cried and run away from my kingdom and I met Dragon... He took me in and become the Black Dragon Orders Members. He trained me with the best magic and fighting techniques... I was better than most of the Black Dragons members... And I was happy..."
"But? How?" Specter questioned him.
"He was saw me crying in the beach..." Melody said. "And he was very sad too..."
"There's a but to your story..." Gruz said.
"By the time passed, Me and The Black Dragon dated me as my partner... He assaulted and sexual harassed me every time when I failed my mission..." Melody said.
"What?! Why didn't you stop him?!" Specter asked shocked. "No good deed... But he was my boyfriend..." Melody sadly said. "So that's why you joined the Black Dragons?" Specter is upset...
"But then, He is one of Axelegore Orders... I didn't notice he was that wizard freak orders! I decided to run away from the Orders and hide myself from my Kingdom!" Melody said. "But your still are on the Black Dragons..." Specter replied.
"I am a loyal to my clan! But, I join you... Please, forgive me!" Melody sadly said.
Specter is upset about her story...
"How about Sarantos..." Specter said.
"Well, he's my next boyfriend... I dated... We been around like a months now... He wanted to marry me but it's averted by the Axelegore Orders... He started to find me and bring me back to his orders..." Melody said. "It's just like you said when you told me, you didn't want to get involve with the Black Dragons again..."
"So what are you going to do?" Specter said.
"... I run away, then I found you..." Melody pointed at Specter. "You're the only one can help me get away from my terrible past..." Melody said. "Please, you're my only hope, or I would've been dead by now!"
He got a big choice ahead of her...
"Melody..." Specter sadly said. "I know... It's not your fault..." Melody sadly said. "Forgive me but I am not convinced..."
"But I have to do my right way to save you and your teams..." Melody sadly said. "I don't expect you to forgive me..."
"No, I think I can..." Specter said. "I will help you..."
Melody seemed to be relieved, but a little bit sad...
Suddenly...
Axelegore stabbed Melody with his Black-Static Scythes right into her chest!
“NOOOOOOO!” Specter screamed.
Melody is bleeding...
She fell down on the ground...
But she is still alive...
"NO! She's dead! My heart broke... My only chance to save was killed..." Specter yelled in sadness.
Axelegore laughed while approaching them...
"You wanted to comfort her! Go ahead! You had 5 minutes before I reset your fantasy world!" Axelegore said.
Specter was free from the Frozen Ice and run to Melody!
"Melody..." Specter sadly said.
"No! I'm still alive! Live... Specter!" Melody weakly said.
"I can't... you're dead..." Specter sadly said.
"Please... It's okay... Perhaps, there’s something you can makes me happy…" Melody weakly said. “Oh… Melody… Before you died… I have something to show you…” Specter sadly said.
Specter grab his bag and present his Wedding Ring that he found in the Catacombs of the Light Orb...
“It's the wedding ring, I got it from the Catacombs of The Light Orb..." Specter present his Wedding Ring for Melody.
"What..." Melody weakling said.
"We were meant to be together... Me and you... I loved you..." Specter sadly said.
He put the ring on her finger...
"This ring is my bond with you..." Specter sadly said.
"Thanks... Specter..." Melody smiled at him.
"Are you ready to reset?" he asked.
Melody weakly nod her head...
"No... I don't want this to reset... I want this world... I want you defeat Axelegore and save Lairon!" Melody weakly said.
"I don't know if I can..." Specter sadly said .
"Listen Specter... You can do it without me... You can do without me..." Melody weakly said.
Melody weakly grab Specter's wrist.
"You need someone of equal skill and power like me... Together you'll be the strongest hero in this world... Don't leave me here... With him..." Melody started crying...
"I know..." Specter hugged her.
He then kiss her on the forehead...
Then he put her down.
"I will return to you... I promise..." he said.
Melody weakly nod her head...
"Thanks... Also I wanted to take this... This is my sister charm... It will find your way and love... I present my charm to find yourself a new way, luck and hope..." Melody smiled at him and gave her sister charm to him for the last time before she died...
"Thank You... Melody..." Specter sadly said. "You're Welcome... Beat Axelegore and restore Lairon for me…" she said with a smiles and died.
"MELODY! MELODY!" Specter start shaking Melody up!
"No! NO! NOOOOOO!" he screamed, began punching the ground and started crying…
"Poor... Poor... Specter... How pathetic is your girlfriend was!" Axelegore shocked him and Specter fainted on the ground...
"Hahahahaha! I told you the death of your girlfriend would affect you... The two of you are so pathetic!" Axelegore laughed hysterically.
"Now then, Give me the 12 Orbs! So we can end this, once and for all!" Axelegore commands.
Gruz, Dragon and Sarantos grabbed the 12 orbs and form into the Elemental Orbs!
"NOO!" Darkcrow, Roger, Shiva, Lily and Flameflower shouted.
"Now then, Let's finish this, once and for all!" Sarantos said. "But first, we'll have to restore all of your friend! I have something to say about them..." Axelegore said.
Axelegore using the Elemental Orb to rewind time to restore all of the orders!
Ruzal, Cupiditas, The Sizzling Sisters, Bloodlust, Light, Darkness and Phantom were back!
"Whoa! What the hell, happened!" Cupiditas said.
“The heck are we, sisters?” Sizzlea said "And what the hell are you?" Ruzal demanded to know.
"Ah, Ruzal. The pleasure is all mine..." Axelegore said while rubbing his hands with glee. "Master Axelegore, you got the Elemental Orb!?" Light shocked.
"Well, I'm not master anything else..." he smirked. "Am I a wizard again?" Light asked. "Yes, you're still a wizard again but now you're a holy dragon now..." Axelegore said.
"Also, for a while... I'm betraying you all!" Axelegore betrayed everyone. "Huh? Why?" everyone asked.
"I was getting sick of this henchmen’s stuff. I wanted something by being alone!" he explained. "Your sanity is leaking out of your head." Gruz said.
"What! You can't be serious! What about my friend! Spencer! I made a deal for you since we met!" Dragon said.
"Oh, you mean this Spencer!" Axelegore pointed at Spencer! "No! What have I done... I just hurt my friend!" Dragon said.
"Oh, that's easy to fix. Just bring him back to life." Axelegore said. "But..." Dragon upset.
"SHUT YOUR PESKY MOUTH!" Axelegore shouted.

In a matter of seconds, Sarantos became the New and Real Order, Master of World while his Creations now are loyal to him as the Real Order Master!

"I DON'T WANT TO! I WANT TO CONQUEST ALL OF THE UNIVERSE AND NOTHING CAN STOP ME!" Sarantos shouted as he kicked Dragon into the random Time Portal!
"NOW! WHERE THE TIME ORB!" Sarantos found the 11 Orbs except the Time Orbs!

2020.10.21 03:35 bryanhbell "Request Replacement Ballot By Mail" Button On VoteWA Ballot Status Web Page

I wanted to post about my experience with the VoteWA Ballot Status web page in case it happens to anyone else. You can access this page by visiting https://voter.votewa.gov/, entering your name & birth date, and then selecting "Ballot Status" in the sidebar.
I received my General Election 2020 ballot in the mail on October 15th. I completed it and put it in the Issaquah City Center drop box on Saturday October 17th.
Later that day I tried checking my ballot status at the page above. It listed my ballot sent date as October 14th and the status as "sent", so no indication yet that my completed ballot had been received.
While I was looking at the ballot status page, I accidentally tapped on the "Request Replacement Ballot By Mail" button. There was no "are you sure?" prompt.
On Sunday I checked the ballot status web page again and there was no ballot status information at all. Instead, it said simply "No absentee found".
On Monday, I checked again and it listed my ballot sent date as October 20th and the status as "queued". It appeared that another ballot was being sent to me soon because I had accidentally tapped on the "Request Replacement Ballot By Mail" button back on Saturday.
Now I wasn't sure what do do. Was my already-submitted ballot now invalid? Did I need to complete and submit the new ballot when it arrived? If I submitted the new ballot, would both be invalidated because I voted twice? Could I somehow get in trouble for voter fraud?
On Monday, I emailed [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected], and explained what happened.
[email protected] responded on Tuesday and told me:
It sounds like you did request a replacement, but that’s okay – if you already sent in a ballot, you can discard the extra. Your original ballot will still count if you don’t send in the second one. If you do send in the replacement, it will be counted instead of the original ballot.
Later in the day [email protected] responded and told me:
Not to worry. The replacement ballot you accidentally requested has been stopped. We have already received and accepted your first ballot, so you have VOTED!
Later, [email protected] responded and told me:
Rest assured, your ballot that you took to the Issaquah City Center drop box has been accepted. Once that ballot was received and the signature verified, any other ballot that may have been in the queue to be sent to you was suspended.
Your vote has been cast and nothing will change that at this point.
We are looking into putting a brake on that button, something that asks "are you sure?" so we do not have this concern for voters going forward.
The Vote WA ballot status page now shows my original ballot as accepted and the King County ballot tracker (https://info.kingcounty.gov/kcelections/vote/myvoterinfo.aspx) now shows my original ballot as counted.
TL;DR: I accidentally requested a replacement ballot after submitting my ballot, but the system worked and my original ballot got counted. Do be careful not to click on the "Request Replacement Ballot By Mail" button because for now it does not have an "are you sure?" prompt.
UPDATE: On Thursday October 22nd, I did receive a replacement ballot in the mail after all. It took 5 days including a weekend for it to arrive from the day I accidentally requested it. Per the e-mails I received from the state and county election offices, and also since I can see my original ballot is already counted, I am discarding this replacement ballot.

2020.10.20 14:46 rusticgorilla Lost in the Sauce: Team Trump attempts to smear Biden using possible Russian disinformation

Welcome to Lost in the Sauce, keeping you caught up on political and legal news that often gets buried in distractions and theater… or a global health crisis.
Housekeeping:

October surprise

Trump and allies are pushing an unverified and highly suspicious narrative to smear Joe Biden by trying to tie him to his son Hunter Biden’s work in Ukraine. Last week, the New York Post published emails and photos allegedly from a laptop belonging to Hunter - but without any proof of provenance.

What we know:

The NYP story: Hunter Biden (who lives in Los Angeles) dropped off multiple laptops at a computer repair shop in Delaware in April 2019 and disappeared. The invoice he allegedly signed was for the low price of $85. The repair shop owner recovers and reads Hunter’s private emails, a few of which mention a possible meeting with his dad, and is so alarmed that he contacts the FBI in November 2019. Before handing the laptops over, though, the repair shop owner copies the contents. Once he realizes the FBI is not doing anything with them, he contacts Giuliani’s lawyer (sometime in early 2020) and hands over the contents of the drives. Giuliani and/or his lawyer then sits on the material for months, finally deciding to release them (with some prompting of Steve Bannon) three weeks before the election.
  • The NYP story was “mostly” written by longtime-NYP reporter Bruce Golding, but he “did not allow his byline to be used because he had concerns over the article’s credibility.” Instead, the lead reporter credited is Emma-Jo Morris, a former producer of Sean Hannity’s show on Fox News (owned by Rupert Murdoch, just like the NYP). Between Wednesday and Sunday, the NYP published more than 50 separate stories and columns tagged “Hunter Biden.”
What the docs published by NYP said: An email dated April 17, 2015, suggests Hunter Biden arranged for a top executive at a Ukrainian energy firm to meet with the then-vice president when he was in charge of U.S. policy toward Ukraine. There is no proof the email is authentic, nor is there proof that such a meeting occurred or that “Hunter” even replied to it.
What experts say: WaPo journalist David Ignatius reports that an Eastern European expert in digital forensics who has examined some of the Ukrainian documents leaked to the New York Post said he “found anomalies — such as American-style capitalization of the names of ministries — that suggest fakery.” Thomas Rid, author of “Active Measures,” told WaPo: “Usually when emails are leaked, what investigators look for is the actual email file, and we don’t have that here.” When an email is presented without the metadata, he said, “then you become suspicious.”
Russian op: U.S. intelligence agencies warned the White House last year that Giuliani was the target of an influence operation by Russian intelligence. The intelligence raised concerns that Giuliani was being used to feed Russian misinformation to the president, leading national security adviser Robert O’Brien to caution Trump in a private conversation that any information Giuliani brought back from Ukraine should be considered contaminated by Russia. Trump had “shrugged his shoulders” at O’Brien’s warning, the former official said, and dismissed concern about his lawyer’s activities by saying, “That’s Rudy.”
  • Former National Security Adviser John Bolton repeatedly told his staff to stay out of discussions with Giuliani due to warnings he received from intelligence officials about Trump’s lawyer spreading foreign disinformation. As early as Spring 2019 Giuliani was seen as a tool of Russian intelligence.
  • A reminder that when Giuliani came to Kyiv in December he not only met Andriy Derkach, identified and sanctioned by the US as a Russian agent, he also flew out of Ukraine on a private jet connected to some shady oligarchs. When asked about meeting with Derkach, a Russian agent, Giuliani said: “The chance that Derkach is a Russian spy is no better than 50/50.” Apparently that’s a low enough risk for Rudy…
Trump knew: A source told the Daily Beast that Trump “knew [in recent weeks] that Rudy had something big coming on the Biden family...I remember hearing…something about files, and corruption, and something about sex and drugs…It was evident that the president was interested and wanted it done before the election.” Giuliani further confirmed that Trump knew about the planned leak/smear and approved of it: “Sure, sure. The president knows all about this,” Giuliani said, adding that he had briefed Trump on the “general” parameters of the files.
Chinese connection: Social media accounts connected to billionaire Chinese dissident Guo Wengui began posting about the laptop story weeks before the NYP story was published. You may recall that when Steve Bannon was arrested for fraud, he was aboard Guo’s yacht. Just days before the NYP published the alleged laptop emails, photos of Rudy Giuliani and Guo showed up on Twitter. If taken the same day as posted, that would mean he was with Guo when he reportedly gave NYP the alleged Biden materials.

Republican corruption

Oracle founder Larry Ellison donated $250,000 to a political action committee supporting Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) the same day his company was declared the first official U.S. partner for TikTok. Graham was reportedly pivotal in arranging the deal, saying he personally called Trump to advocate for the sale of TikTok to a U.S. business in lieu of a total ban. “If TikTok is saved, you can thank me,” he said.
U.S. Rep. Roger Williams, a Central Texas Republican and member of the House Financial Services Committee, used his powerful post in Congress to try to help a top donor in his dealings with a publicly traded bank, court records show. Williams allegedly used&utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=referral) his position on the powerful House committee to try to force the CEO of UMB Bank into meeting with oil field investor Gary Martin of Marble Falls.
Attorney Kyle Hirsch testified under oath that Williams’ intervention exerted inappropriate pressure on UMB and that unless the CEO agreed to meet with his donor there could be problems for the bank in Congress. “The Congressman indicated that his role on the Financial Services Committee included legislation that was coming down the pike and that he was urging the bank to meet with his constituent or there would be adverse consequences as it relates to his role on the Financial Services Committee,” Hirsch said, according to his deposition in the case.
For at least seven years, GOP Rep. Jim Hagedorn (MN-1) appears to have enjoyed rent-free use of a campaign office supplied by a political donor. “It sounds like something that could potentially be a fairly serious violation of campaign finance law and the ethics rules,” said Bryson Morgan, a former investigative counsel at the Office of Congressional Ethics.
Sen. Lindsey Graham used an on-camera interview after the Supreme Court confirmation hearings Wednesday to solicit contributions for his reelection campaign, a move that a congressional legal expert said is a clear violation of Senate ethics rules. Senate ethics rules prohibit members from soliciting campaign contributions in any federal building.
“I don’t know how much it affected fundraising today, but if you want to help me close the gap — LindseyGraham.com — a little bit goes a long way,” said Graham, R-S.C, who is locked in a highly competitive race against well-funded Democratic challenger Jaime Harrison.
Sen. Martha McSally (R-AZ) has used her office’s taxpayer-funded resources to send out a robocall touting a key campaign issue—her work on COVID-19 policy—to Arizonans. Normally, mass official communication with constituents so close to an election would be prohibited. But a waiver approved by the Senate Rules Committee in March has made it permissible—if, and only if, the communication is for the purposes of “providing updated information about the pandemic, and providing information about the federal government's response.”
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) is spending $819,000 of taxpayer money on a Fox News ad promoting her state as a “place to safely explore” despite the pandemic. South Dakota currently has the highest positivity rate in the nation (36%) and the second-highest new cases per day (753 per million people), right behind North Dakota. Noem has also spent $130,000 to build a studio in the basement of the Capitol, which she has used frequently for Fox News appearances.

Court cases

The DC Circuit Court of Appeals will rehear the House’s case to enforce a subpoena for former White House counsel Donald McGahn. A three-judge panel earlier ruled 2-1 that the House Judiciary Committee could not enforce the subpoena absent a law explicitly giving it the authority to do so. The majority in the previous panel was made up of now-retired Judge Thomas Griffith, a W. Bush appointee (who made way for McConnell protege Justin Walker on the court), and Judge Karen Henderson, a H.W. Bush appointee. Judge Judith Rogers, a Clinton appointee, dissented.
  • NOTE: The D.C. Circuit has essentially allowed the White House to run out the clock. The subpoena to McGahn was first issued in April 2019. In taking up the case, the full court asked the parties to address “whether the case would become moot when the Committee’s subpoena expires upon the conclusion of the 116th Congress.” Oral arguments are not scheduled until February 2021.
  • If you’re confused about why the D.C. Circuit is hearing the McGahn case again, here is the reason: The first time the court ruled on the McGahn subpoena was in August, when the full bench determined the House has standing to sue the executive branch to enforce subpoenas. This time, the issue is “cause of action,” meaning whether House Democrats have legal ground to take the subpoena issue to court.
The Supreme Court refused to hear a case brought by Democratic lawmakers against President Trump over his private businesses accepting payments from foreign governments. In declining to revive the case, the justices let stand a decision by a three-judge panel of the D.C. Circuit to dismiss the lawsuit - a win for Trump. The panel was made up of Judge Thomas Griffith (W. Bush appointee), Karen Henderson (H.W. Bush appointee), and David Tatel (Clinton appointee). All three unanimously ruled that the individual members did not have legal standing to take the president to court.
“Our conclusion is straightforward because the Members — 29 Senators and 186 Members of the House of Representatives — do not constitute a majority of either body and are, therefore, powerless to approve or deny the President’s acceptance of foreign emoluments,” the [earlier three-judge panel] ruled.
  • Note, there are still two other pending cases before the Court: Trump v. CREW and Trump v. Maryland & D.C.
Trump filed an emergency request with the Supreme Court to block the release of his tax returns. Last week, a federal appeals court ruled Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance can enforce a subpoena for Mr. Trump's business records and tax returns.
SCOTUS cases coming up: On Nov. 30, SCOTUS will hear arguments to determine whether the Trump administration can exclude unauthorized immigrants from the 2020 census count. Next year, SCOTUS will take up two challenges to Trump’s immigration policies: his diversion of military funds to pay for construction of the southern border wall, and a policy that has required tens of thousands of asylum seekers to remain in Mexico while their claims are processed.
  • Three Muslim men who said they were placed for years on a “no-fly” list because they refused to become FBI informants told the Supreme Court on Tuesday that they should be able to sue the agents for targeting them because of their religion.
A federal judge Sunday struck down a Trump administration rule that could have stripped food stamps from nearly 700,000 people. Chief Judge Beryl Howell (Obama appointee) of the D.C. District Court wrote: "The final rule at issue in this litigation radically and abruptly alters decades of regulatory practice, leaving states scrambling and exponentially increasing food insecurity for tens of thousands of Americans.”

Miscellaneous

Russia: The United States on Monday unsealed criminal charges against six Russian intelligence officers in connection with some of the world’s most damaging cyberattacks, including disruption of Ukraine’s power grid and the release of a mock ransomware virus that infected computers globally and caused billions of dollars in damage.
DOJ: Attorney General Bill Barr’s “unmasking” probe has quietly ended with no prosecutions or findings of wrongdoing. The investigation, conducted by U.S. Attorney John Bash, was focused on whether Obama-era officials improperly requested the identities of individuals whose names were redacted in intelligence documents.
DOJ: Phillip Halpern, a 36-year veteran of the Justice Department, accused AG Barr of abusing his power to sway the election for President Trump and said he was quitting. He said he would have quit earlier but stayed on because he worried that the department under Mr. Barr would have interfered in his prosecution of former Representative Duncan D. Hunter, Republican of California, who pleaded guilty in December to conspiracy to steal campaign funds.
Trump campaign: A newly published trove of Cambridge Analytica emails and other documents from the 2016 election demonstrate how the data firm operated as a tool for a billionaire family to unlawfully influence U.S. politics and help elect President Trump. It includes a never-before-published 27-page post-election report from February 2017 shows that Cambridge Analytica claimed credit for creating, producing, and distributing ads for the Trump campaign, which included “5,000+ ad campaigns” on behalf of Trump that generated “1.5 billion impressions.”
Trump campaign: A Chinese national whose Instagram page features pictures of him wearing a VIP pass at a 2018 rally for President Donald Trump, is now on U.S. soil after being charged with conspiring to distribute cocaine and laundering the illicit funds, according to court documents filed earlier this week.
Trump campaign: For a fourth time, pro-Trump super PAC America First Action used stock footage from Russia and Belarus in a major ad buy that’s airing in three swing states.
HHS: The health department’s top lawyer is warning in an internal memo that President Donald Trump's plan to give seniors $200 discount cards to buy prescription drugs could violate election law. The lawyer’s objection, coupled with his advice to seek approval from the Department of Justice, is a significant blow to Trump’s hope to promote the hastily devised plan before Election Day.
Trump money: The State Department says it has about 450 pages of records showing government spending at President Trump’s properties. But this week, it signaled that it plans to release only two of those pages before the November election. The State Department pays for hotel rooms and other expenses when foreign leaders visit Trump properties, and when federal employees, such as Secret Service agents, follow Trump and his family to the president’s overseas clubs.
Trump: Trump was receiving one of his first codeword classified briefings on Afghanistan, at his Bedminster club, when he suddenly got bored and ordered milkshakes. The incident became legendary inside the CIA, where like at other agencies, morale has slumped.
Voting: A deadlocked Supreme Court on Monday let stand a lower-court ruling that requires Pennsylvania election officials to count absentee ballots received within three days after Election Day, Nov. 3, even if they are not postmarked. Four justices – Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh – indicated that they would have granted the Republicans’ request.
  • While a temporary win for voting rights, the 4-4 decision is worrying because once Amy Coney Barrett is confirmed, there will likely be five votes in favor of a radical, anti-democratic theory that would stop state Supreme Courts from enforcing state election laws to protect the right to vote. This Twitter thread goes into more detail.
Immigration: A total of 172 immigrants were arrested across six sanctuary cities within a six-day span, according to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The arrests were made in Baltimore, Denver, New York, Philadelphia, Seattle, and Washington, DC, between October 3-9.

Groupwatch prompts and thoughts

This show went pretty hard for the mini romance near the end with the Sora/Gouta pairing and the Asagi/Kuroda side story. Do you think the show pulled that off well or would you have preferred to stay at Magic SoL?

Natural but wish for more SoL
The romantic plot could sort of been seen a mile off, so it wasn't that much of a force when the story began to develop it more. I, personally liked how it happened, it seemed natural. Since the show is SoL there will be some parts of life we won't see and some we do and when they went on their date it felt like we were seeing the result of something that was developing on and off-screen. That being said, I do also wish we had more SoL moments of them training, especially going and filling the requests of different clients. The client travel fleshing out the world was something that was setting a nice pattern of world building before it was quite abruptly set aside for the romantic theme to get more room to grow. [ValkyrieCain9 RX-Nota-II]
Natural but not deserved. Useful to explore the show’s themes but executed poorly.
Given how the more slice of life segments seemed uneven in how well they explored the show’s themes, I don’t think giving the romance as much emphasis as they did was to the detriment of the show despite the potential in having more varied scenarios through which to explore them. In order to explore the types of connections between people and what it means to lose them, keying in on a romantic relationship lends slightly more depth to the topic as opposed to the breadth that the apprenticeship cases did, which is of merit, and having someone close to Sora, someone who would have under other circumstances become an intrinsic part of her life, who was also present for much of her apprenticeship helps lend the finale more weight.
That said, it could’ve been executed much better. As a vehicle to explore loss it works, but as a romance in and off itself it was very token and dull. As much as the romance between Sora and Gota felt natural, it also never felt deserved. It felt like the romance developed as a result of proximity instead of any sort of special connection, yearning for each other, or personal understanding. The Asagi/Kuroda romance felt a little better due to their contrasting personalities grating against each other to see different sides of themselves. The moment Gota fell in love with Sora was when she became his “magic fluffer”, to put things simply. While that’s great in the thematic sense that she is the key to unlock his magic, that in and of itself doesn’t quite explore his insecurities with magic in the first place. That side of the equation is explored with his broken family life. As for Sora, there’s never a definitive moment in time where she falls in love with Gota. It just kind of happens somewhere along the way, then turns up to 10 when she tries to run away from her imminent death. [DarkFuzz Pixelsaber]
Understated and a vital element in crafting the SoL Proximity a sufficient reason
The romance had an understated feel to it, The pairings were expected and there were plenty of foreshadowing/hints dropped. I am personally fine with how they represented it, the feel of it was very much inline with the show. I'd say the "romance" segments were also SoL. There wasnt too much of drama or "hype" leading up to them getting together, it progressed naturally from meeting for the first time, to being curious, to helping each other and finally getting their emoitons across. I really liked how they represented the flow of these events serenely. It also helped get across the theme of loss well, since the feeling of losing someone you love in a romantic setting is very easy to get across and I think that was the reason they went in that direction.
While there may be some criticisms that the relationship grew out of proximity alone, not all anime romances need to delve into dramatic happenings and prominent strings of fate. Proximity is like the greatest predictor of romantic success, so I see nothing wrong with the way the couple developed here. [max_turner AdiMG]

What are your thoughts of how magic is used in the show’s society?

A pervasive existence that went unexplored
The lack of depth in the role magic plays in the society seems to be the show’s largest missed opportunity. The pervasiveness of the request system and how interwoven it is into the society is evident. However, little is said about how it is organized, structured, or regulated. As much as we can see how socially accepted magic is and how much it has become a force for helping rather than power in this world, we are not shown or told anything about when or what kind of magic is socially unacceptable or used for purposes that are less than noble. We are also not given much in terms of differences in magical power, despite the fact that we are told that every person’s magic is unique. This creates a free flowing and diverse world of magic that seems rather confusing as given its diversity no attempts at categorization or ordering have occurred. Without knowing exactly what kinds of magic exist and which kinds are better at doing certain things or what is acceptable, we are left to wonder what magic’s role in this world exactly is. [darkfuzz ValkyrieCain9 max_turner Pixelsaber]

Natsu no Sora presents us with several cases where characters are focused to struggle with failure and feelings of inadequacy, particularly in the face of those better than them or their own exorbitant expectations. Do you believe the show properly explores these topics?

A careful and effective approach
The series’ depictions of youth struggling to meet expectations seems its most fleshed out aspect, even more so than the series’ ruminations on loss. Several of its characters at different levels of aptitude all see themselves faced with it at one point or another, and their continuous presence allows the matter to be explored in a more meaningful capacity. Failures are a factor of life, everyone can learn to move past them even if they cannot be undone. Consequences cannot be avoided but it is through taking them that characters are able to mature. Ultimately the show doesn’t say anything particularly noteworthy on the subject, but its exploration of the subject feels sufficiently cohesive and complete. [Pixelsaber RX-Nota-II]
Competent but nothing special
There’s only so many ways a show can go about solving the theme of failure, one of the most typical being something along the lines of “stand up, train harder, fight again, and never give up”. I don’t think this show is particularly unique with this theme either, but it did an adequate job exploring the topic. Sora/Asagi plays a good role encouraging in Gouta/Kurada as they face the need to follow the recipe. One thing I did find interesting is that Kuroda did suffer a light punishment for his “flight” response as a result of his failure, which was he had to take remedial classes to make up for the time he missed. [DarkFuzz max_turner]

Do you find the show compositing simplistic designs on filtered photographs for backgrounds adds to the verisimilitude of its fantastical setting? Or did you find it distracting at times and detrimental to the watching experience?

A masterful balance
The first episode was the most jarring for me when looking at the compositing and even then not that much. From there it is easy to get used to the style and forget it is unconventional. The scouting work by the director really shines through in how immaculately the rooms of the characters match to their personalities (Just compare Sora’s plain and tidy room adorned with scenic portraits at her village to the punky room she lives in at during school time which was stylized by her mentor and ex-rocker Seiichirou and is brimming with exuberant iconography like the British flag and oversized posters of album covers). In addition to character, the backgrounds add a tangible sense of locality to the proceedings in the show with the repeated motifs of the various hip cafes and shops near Sora and Goto’s residence at the bustling Shimokitazawa market with young street performers peppering every corner, the detached railway station they took to the magical school everyday, the daunting yet bureaucratically sterile visage of their school. All of this adds aesthetic weight to the show’s exploration of a vibrant society where magic is low-key and commonplace, which ultimately isn’t significantly different from ours, thus grounding the world far more elegantly than a lot of expository dialogue would achieve. The atmosphere is immediately familiar instead of feeling out of place and fantastical.
The seamlessness with which animated elements interact with the backgrounds is also noteworthy. Such a drastic difference in detail between the real photographs and simplistic figures can easily become jarring and in effect every single screenshot from the show featuring the blend does look unnatural. It is only when context and motion are added that everything finally works as a whole, drawing attention beautifully between what is animated and what is photographed while hiding the boundary between the two. [AdiMG ValkyrieCain9 max_turner RX-Nota-II]

What do you make of Sora, our ostensive main character, and her approach to the cases her mentor and her are assigned to? Do you think she approached them with the right mentality?

Sora, the unconventional conventional character [ValkyrieCain9, Pixelsaber, max_turner, DarkFuzz] At first glance, Sora strikes us as the typical pure anime girl that does the right thing. She’s talented, pure, unassuming, and humble. However, this image is contrasted with her deep sense of morality and her clients. Her inherent desire to get to the root of problems rather than simply sticking to the traditional approaches of the bureau of magic, make her a little bit of a rebel. Sora’s approach always seems to take into account the full context of what her clients are asking for rather than simply fulfilling the request, even if it means breaking the rules a little. In a world where problems are usually papered over rather solved from core, Sora makes us believe that there is still room for those who seek to do the same in our world, even if it means breaking the rules a little.

Do you think other anime should try experimenting with filtered photographs composited in or is this something that works only because it is exceptionally rare?

The usage of filtered photographs as backgrounds in anime should be governed by two guiding principles, the aesthetic objective behind it and its execution. Aesthetically, I find realistic background work best either for producing a sense of heightened reality such as in Sarazanmai’s fateful reunion of the Kuji brothers at a realistically rendered Sumida harbour or for creating a feeling of routine and mundanity as in the crushingly repetitive rituals of the Tatami Galaxy, such as Watashi turning on his bubbling coffee maker every episode. Beyond Ikuhara (Penguindrum) and Yuasa (Mind Game, Kemonozume), I also find Kenji Nakamura (Kuuchuu Buranko) employs the technique along similar lines.
As for the execution, it is simply a hard technique to nail down without reaching some uncanny valley territory fast. Even a show as otherwise aesthetically perfect as Yama no Susume which features some of the best compositing in anime history (particularly S02E13) wasn’t able to escape this uncanniness when they utilized a cosplayer to perform a photoshoot for S03E05 and then used those reference photos as backgrounds to capture the serene yet interactive atmosphere of the location they scouted which accidentally and unfortunately resulted in some hauntingly nightmarish statues. And that is one of the best teams in TV anime, so the results by a modest production like Mitsuboshi Colors using them as a cost-saving measure can look disastrously out-of-place. At the same time, I think they have an interesting place in anime, and while I would never prefer them to actually painted backgrounds, they might be an interesting replacement for the exceedingly sterile digital background art present on an average seasonal production like say the gaudy and one-note wooden textures of Tonikaku Kawaii or the laughably bad CG waterfalls of Majo no Tabitabi. [AdiMG]
I don’t see a reason not to experiment with the technique. If a production thinks it might fit with their vision of the anime, they’re not only well in their rights to try, but it’ll also help them and others learn more about its implementation. I obviously don’t want every production to use such a thing, that would only lead to a monotonous and less varied collection of visual styles, as well as probable limitations on what the staff can do with its visuals, but I am not opposed to seeing more attempts at this. [Pixelsaber]
I don't see why further experimenting with this sort of compositing would be bad, but I do think that it is something that only works when all the other elements of the production work with it. I don't think filtered photographs would work with any animation style so they should not be added for the sake of adding them in. [ValkyrieCain9]

2020.10.14 22:34 s4nskrit A Tale of Three Cities

CITY OF LONDON, WASHINGTON DC AND VATICAN CITY
World events most of which are ‘engineered’ leave a trail that leads to the architects. We next discover that there are 3 cities on earth that come under no national authority, they have separate laws, they pay no taxes, they have their own police force and even possess their own flag of ‘independence’.
These 3 cities control the economy, military onslaughts and the spiritual beings of those in powers. The 3 cities are actually corporations and they are the City of London, District of Columbia and the Vatican.
Together they control politicians, the courts, educational institutions, food supply, natural resources, foreign policies, economies, media, and the money flow of most nations as well as 80% of the world’s entire wealth.
Their ultimate aim is to build a totalitarian rule on a global scale where people will be divided into rulers and the ruled after they have depopulated the world to numbers they wish to rule over.
What we need to understand is that the world does not work according to what we have been led to believe. We are drowning in misinformation.
At the center of each city state are giant phallic shaped stone monuments called obelisks.
London obelisk (aka Cleopatra’s Needle): Located on the banks of the River Thames, this obelisk was transported to London and erected in 1878 under the reign of Queen Victoria.
The obelisk originally stood in the Egyptian city of On, or Heliopolis (the City of the Sun).
The Knights Templars’ land extended to this area of the Thames, where the Templars had their own docks. Either side of the obelisk is surrounded by a sphinx, more symbolism dating back to the ancient world.
In D.C. the obelisk is known as the Washington monument was dedicated to George Washington by the secretive brotherhood of Freemason Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia in 1848.
They also contributed 22 masonic memorial stones. 250 masonic lodges financed the Washington monument obelisk including the knights templar masonic order.
Vatican obelisk: Located in St. Peter’s Square, was moved from Egypt to its current location, in 1586.
The circle on the ground represents the female vagina, while the obelisk itself is the penis. This is commonly known as occult symbolism.
The Roman Empire prevails through the:
  1. CITY OF LONDON INC
The City of London was formed when the Romans arrived in Great Britain 2000 years ago and started a trading post on the River Thames.
Exactly 1000 years later William the Conqueror (King William III) gave sovereign status to the City of Londoners in 1694 allowing them to continue enjoying separate rights and privileges so long as they recognized him as King.
The Kings that succeeded William however, decided to build a new capital city and named it Westminster. There have been numerous instances of the King and the City’s Mayor at loggerheads with each other.
What is peculiar is that laws passed by the British Parliament does not apply to the City of London.
However the City of London is not an independent nation like the Vatican.
Today the City of London is a one-square mile city. The 2 Londons have separate city halls and elect separate mayors, who collect separate taxes to fund separate police who enforce separate laws.
City of London has its own separate flag and crest while London city does not. The Mayor of the City of London has a fancy title ‘The Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of London’ and rides a golden carriage to Guildhall while the Mayor of London wears a suit and takes a bus.
The Mayor of London has no power over the Right Honorable Lord Mayor of London (City of London).
What’s unique is that the City of London is a Corporation and older than the United Kingdom but has a representative in the UK Parliament through a person known as the ‘Remembrancer’ who is present to protect the ‘City’s interests.
The City of London houses
The City of London is controlled by the Bank of England, a private corporation owned by the Rothschild family after Nathan Rothschild crashed the English stock market in 1812 and took control of the Bank of England.
Complete List of BANKS Owned or Controlled by the Rothschild Family
The Queen refers to the City of London Corporation as the ‘Firm’ but it is known as The CROWN (not representing the Royalty of Britain). Buckingham Palace is in London but not in the City of London and the City is not part of England.
City of London directly and indirectly controls all mayors, councils, regional councils, multi-national and trans-national banks, corporations, judicial systems (through Old Bailey, Temple Bar and the Royal Courts of Justice in London), the IMF, World Bank, Vatican Bank (through N. M. Rothschild & Sons London Italian subsidiary Torlonia), European Central Bank, United States Federal Reserve (which is privately owned and secretly controlled by eight British-controlled shareholding banks), the Bank for International Settlements in Switzerland (which is also British-controlled and oversees all of the Reserve Banks around the world including our own) and the European Union and the United Nations Organization.
The Crown controls the global financial system and runs the governments of all Commonwealth countries, and many non-Commonwealth ‘Western’ nations as well (like Greece).
The Crown traces back to the Vatican, which is headed by the Pope (who owns American Express).
In essence the City of London Corporation would become the “One World Earth Corporation” and would privately own the world.
  1. Washington DC (District of Colombia)
Washington DC is not part of the USA. District of Columbia is located on 10sq miles of land. DC has its own flag and own independent constitution. This constitution operates under a tyrannical Roman law known as Lex Fori.
DC constitution has nothing to do with the American Constitution. The Act of 1871 passed by Congress created a separate corporation known as THE UNITED STATES & corporate government for the District of Columbia.
Thus DC acts as a Corporation through the Act. The flag of Washington’s District of Columbia has 3 red stars (the 3 stars denoting DC, Vatican City and City of London).
A look at the various Treaties raises the question of whether US remains a British Crown colony.
The basis of this goes back to the first Charter of Virginia in 1606 that granted Britain the right to colonize America and gave the British King/Queen to hold sovereign authority over colonized America and its citizens.
Colonized America was created after stealing America from the Native Indians. If America was colonized with British subjects these people are subjects of the British Government.
To negate this was the Treaty of 1783 declaring independence from Great Britain. However, this Treaty identifies the King/Queen of England as the Prince of the United States. (please refer www.treatyofparis.com)
Nevertheless, according to the Bouviers Law dictionary in ‘monarchicial governments’ a subject owes permanent allegiance to the monarch in which case the British subjects in colonized America owed permanent allegiance to the monarch.
The reverse is applicable under Constitutional law where allegiance is owed to the sovereign and to the laws of a sovereign government and natives are both subjects and citizens.
The issue is if a war was fought in 1781 and America became victor why would Britain need to sign a Treaty in 1783? When US has won a war, America should not require the British monarch to cede land and refer to himself as Prince of the Holy Roman Empire and of the United States?
There is also the issue of the use of the term ‘Esquire’ given that it is a title of nobility again showing allegiance to the Queen/King and when Benjamin Franklin, John Jay Esquire and John Adams signing on behalf of the US use the name ‘Esquire’ it is raising the question of how valid the 1783 Treaty is.
John Jay went on to sign the 1794 Treaty between England and US raising again why 13 years after the Paris Treaty the US needs to sign a Treaty with England if US was really ‘independent’.
What needs to be further investigated is why US still continues to pay tax to the City if it is a free nation?
The 1794 Treaty signed between England and the US was negotiated by John Jay Esquire who negotiated the 1783 Treaty.
The question is why would US need to sign Treaty’s with England 13 years after the Paris Treaty of 1783 declaring US independent? Why would Article 6 and Article 12 continue to dictate terms to an ‘independent’ America?
Further reading of US history would reveal what happened to America when it cancelled the Charter of the First National Bank in 1811 and immediately afterwards 4500 British troops arrived and burnt down the White House, both Houses of Congress, the War Office, the US State Department and Treasury and destroyed the ratification records (signed by 12 US states) of the US Constitution wherein the 13th Amendment was to stop anyone receiving a Title of nobility or honor from serving the US Government.
The 1812 war lasted 3 years and the Bank Charter was re-established in 1816 after the ratification of the Treaty of Ghent in 1815. Note: 13th amendment which was ratified in 1810 no longer appears in current copies of the U.S. constitution.
In 1913 the Federal Reserve was passed by US Congress handing over America’s gold and silver reserves and total control of America’s economy to the Rothschild banksters.
The Federal Reserve is a privately owned banking system that does not belong to America or Americans.
It is no better a time to question whether US is a country or a corporation and the US President and officials at the Congress are working for that Corporation and not for the American people.
It appears that the US Corporation is owned by the same country that owns Canada, Australia and New Zealand whose leaders are all serving the Queen in her Crown Land and US too has been and remains a crown colony that belong to the Empire of the 3 City States – City of London, Vatican City and Washington DC.
The US president is nothing more than a figurehead for the central bankers and the transnational corporations — both of which are controlled by High Ecclesiastic Freemasonry from the City of London the home of the global financial system.
  1. Vatican City
The Vatican City is not part of Italy or Rome. The Vatican is the last true remnant of the Roman Empire. The State of Israel is also said to be a Roman outpost.
The Vatican’s wealth includes investments with the Rothschilds in Britain, France and US and with oil and weapons corporations as well.
The Vatican’s billions are said to be in Rothschild controlled ‘Bank of England’ and US Federal Reserve Bank.
The money possessed by the Vatican is more than banks, corporations or even some Governments and questions why the wealth is not used to elevate at least the Christian poor when it preaches about giving?
Vatican wealth has been accumulated over the centuries by taxing indulgences, some Popes have sold tickets to heaven. Today, they are harvesting souls in Asia as a 3rd millennium goal.
Together the 3 Cities have under their wing various societies and groups placed globally with their own so that no one contests their global plan and those that do… well all the assassinations will explain what happens.
The Fabian Society is one such entity which written in 1887 is a mixture of fascism, Nazism, Marxism and communism. It is not hard to now imagine that all these ‘ideologies’ would have also been engineered by the same people.
It should come as no surprise then to discover that the Fabian Society is accredited with creating Communist China, Fascism in Italy and Germany and Socialism globally as well.
How far people have been fooled and also explains the role played by the Fabian Society in formulating policies for the decolonized British Empire.
It would also mean that quite a number of British educated natives given the mantle of leading the newly independent nations would have also been members of the Fabian society.
The communist takeover of Russia too is said to be the work of the British Fabian Society financed by the City of London banking families.
A closer look at entities like the Bank Of International Settlements (BIS), International Monetary Fund(IMF), Club Of Rome, The Committee Of 300, the Central ‘Intelligence’ Agency (CIA), the Council On Foreign Relations, The Tri-Lateral Commission, The Bilderberg Groups, the ‘Federal’ Reserve System, the Internal Revenue Service(s), Goldman Sachs, Israel and the Israeli lobby, the Vatican, the City of London, Brussels, the United Nations, the Israeli Mossad, and Associated Press (AP) will reveal that they are all part of the Fabian Society which also controls the European Union.
A noteworthy quote is that of Australian Senator Chris Schacht who said in 2001 “You probably were not aware that us Fabians have taken over the CIA, KGB, M15, ASIO (Australian Security Intelligence Organization), IMF, the World Bank and many other organizations.”
From all this we should realize that NOTHING HAPPENS IN ISOLATION. Therefore, every event however small is engineered and orchestrated by a handful of people who control the world and what goes on in the world.
Together, they have been responsible for:
  1. Global Warming/Climate change – by creating an environmental catastrophe and winning the Nobel Prize, they have created a public awareness for a ‘global government’ that gives them the right to take action over national governments.
Known as UN Agenda 21 a closer look at its clauses will reveal how people will need to get permission for everything they do – in other words it is being used to control people.
  1. Federal Banking system – The Fabian Society created the Federal Reserve Act in 1913 handing over the US economy to a cartel of international financiers.
  2. Big Pharma – is responsible for drugging the Third World.
  3. System of local government – promoting devolution and new concept of regional councils in a bid to increase a revenue generating system. It is within an overall plan to abolish independent sovereign national governments.
Britain is divided in 9 separate regions of the EU. The British will be shocked to discover that EU laws take precedence over British laws and if they have doubts they need to ask why the Queen and British PMs have signed Treaties handing over power.
  1. Abolition of property rights – in 1974 at the Habitat Conference private property was identified as a threat to peace and equality of the environment.
Using ‘environmentalism’ as a ploy the quest was to take over earth’s resources and place it under a central authority (UN) and issue licenses for payment. Who owns the UN…the same banking families.
In 1987 the World Wilderness Congress was held organized by the Rothschild’s World Conservation Bank which was set up the same year.
The World Bank is likely to be replaced by the World Conservation Bank – the aim is to break down national banks and assets will also be diverted to the new bank which is why there is an aim to merge currencies into 2 or 3 major currency groups and replace them with a new electronic currency which is said to be called the ‘earth dollar’.
New Zealand has apparently transferred over 34% of its land area into UN Heritage Areas and Conservation Parks and these will all be owned by the same banking families.
In 1992 the UN Conference on Environment and Development in Brazil was chaired by Mikhail Gorbachev responsible for dividing the Soviet Union and Maurice Strong, the Rothschild London agent.
The topic was Agenda 21 which gave man rights superior to animals, fish, plants, trees and forests.
  1. The Patriots Act, the Human Rights Bill, the European Union Constitution, the Security and Prosperity Partnership are all being manipulated to place power in the control of a few hands.
Their plans are plotted annually through the Bilderberg Group and their agents run numerous think tanks that steer Government policy which are funded by the banksters who in real terms run the world.
Thus the 13 banking families that run the world control the central banks of the world that print money, give loans on interest and explains how national debt never decreases.
Economic crises, oil crisis (simply to increase prices), Arab Springs are all manufactured as are wars. There is a saying that all wars and bankers wars. The danger is when it comes to food as the control is being placed under Monsanto and GMOs.
Monsanto is the same company that introduced Agent Orange therefore it is worthwhile reading UN’s Codex Alimentarius and the impeding dangers.

2020.10.14 14:03 m1sscommunication Hi I'm from the Netherlands. Looking for info on Vancouver resident

Hello people, for a long time I've been trying to get in contact with my half brother. I'm from the Netherlands, he's from Vancouver WA. We are from the same father. We lost contact when I was about 14.
We met two times, when he visited our country with his mom. Later it was just letters and birthday cards. Now there hasn't been contact in years. My father lost their details. I have always had this vision of meeting him as adults. We were <10 when we last met.
I've done some research, but never found anything useful. Every year or so I Google his name, hoping to find some info. No results until this summer, when all of a sudden I found an obituary with correct name and birth date. I felt a strange kind of loss. I would really like to know what happened.
I have no contact info, except for a full name and birth date. There's a lot of paid services for information, but none of them seem to accept my Dutch credit card. I emailed the Vancouver police and the city. No results yet.
Do you guys know any way I can find out what happened? Thank you for reading!

2020.10.13 00:10 jbsoum 36 [M4F] NYC - Looking for a life partner and a sense of community

Hi there! Like reading verbose and intricate details about a random guy's life on the internet? You've come to the right place!
It has been a challenging year to say the least. I recently moved to the city, and I don't have any friends or family here. After trying a few different spots in the country, it's good to be back in the tri-state area. I'm very antisocial, so I do better with meeting people through personal ads like these. I've made enough successful connections through here that I thought I'd give it another shot!
Trust is very important to me. I don’t believe in trustworthy vs. untrustworthy people. I think everybody can be trustworthy to someone, but it’s something interpersonal that needs to be earned. I would like to meet people that are able and willing to put that kind of work into a relationship, be it friends or more.
Even though I’m looking for friends first and foremost, I am open to something more. That being said, I feel compelled to mention that I’m not having sex again until marriage, since it has raised eyebrows in the past. It’s not a religious thing or an asexuality thing, and I can talk more about it if you’re curious.
In my travels, I have discovered I'm quite the unique snowflake. To help you, the reader, determine if my snowflake pattern jives with your snowflake receptors, I have provided a couple of detailed bulleted lists about me below.

About me:

  • I've had a tough life. I grew up very poor, but I’ve worked very hard to make a better life for myself and I’m doing pretty well these days. I had a very important looking business-y job where I talk to clients about data and analytics and stuff for a living, and I had a couple of really good years pre-pandemic. It's a long story, but I'm optionally unemployed. I've got a few interviews lined up, and I've been learning to develop a game to pass the time.
  • I’m brown, ethnically ambiguous, and good looking if that’s your thing. Willing to exchange pics if we hit it off.
    • On that note, I have been harrased by police since I was 12 years old for my ethnicity and the color of my skin. Not only do I believe in systemic racism, I have experienced its ill effects for much of my life. As such, I'm a huge propenent of defunding police and social justice initiatives.
    • Also on this note, I would also say I'm culturally ambiguous. If you want to know what that means feel free to ask! If you think you know what that means, definitely hit me up! It's something I made up, just FYI.
  • I’m not religious, but I am spiritual. I do think there’s some greater force that unites all living things, but I’m skeptical that organized religion has the answers. I feel like people who are religious tend to do things because they are told, and they find interpretation of the text to be blasphemous. So they often find me blasphemous (I've literally been called that a few times). Ironically enough, I find myself almost accidentally living what one would call a god fearing life. If there is a God, he/she/them certainly has a sense of humor.
  • Many people find me either annoyingly optimistic, or annoyingly pessimistic. I would argue I'm neither, but take that for what it's worth. I believe that hard work, determination, love, and friendship can overcome any obstacle. I also believe that we must all take responsibility for our own words and our own actions; two wrongs never make a right under any circumstance. I believe that if you do right by those around you, things will work out some way, somehow, and I view my own life as living proof of that. I find that these ideas are also really unpopular in 2020.
  • I'm very opinionated, and I'm very vocal about my opinions. I thoroughly enjoy discussions with people who don't necessarily agree with me, but can justify their stances with facts and information. I don't subscribe to the philosophy that something is more correct if you say it more loudly or more frequently. People that do subscribe to this philosohpy find me a chore to be around.
  • I'm very antisocial, and I keep to myself a lot. I like to joke that I'm too antisocial even for the internet. Whenever I tell co-workers that, they always think I'm messing with them; I had a pretty high-profile job at my company and I come off to most people that meet me as very outgoing.
  • I struggle with depression and anxiety. I have for most of my life. It’s not really a clinical thing; I just lead a very lonely life. I’ve been hurt a lot, so I'm not quick to let people in. Once I do let people in, I'm quite reliable. Don’t be offended if I’m really careful about opening up at first. I’ve been in therapy and I've benefitted a lot from it, but it takes me some time to let my walls down.
  • I can get kind of loud sometimes, and passionate, and I’m not afraid to tell anyone what I think about anything, and that’s off-putting for people sometimes.
  • I'm a bit of a storyteller, in that I have lots of stories to share. I have also performed on stage for a popular storytelling podcast, and it was well received. I've told stories for a live audience twice now, and I don't think I'd do it again, but maybe? It was a rewarding experience.
  • I've had a lot of people over the years tell me to do stand-up comedy. I may one day, but I have no plans to do so anytime soon. I am a big fan of stand-up comedy, and I'm a sucker for a good act. I do have scattered notes of jokes, so maybe I'm more serious about it than I'm willing to admit.
  • I tend to get along with women, or men who also mostly get along with women. I grew up around two women and I find most men intolerable.

What I'm into:

  • I think this is implied by the fact that I’m posting a written dating profile on Reddit to make friends, but I’m kind of nerdy. I like tinkering with computers, programming (currently learning how to make a video game), anime and TV, retro games (although some of these newer indie throwbacks are great! Undertale OMG!), and cartoons (Steven Universe is currently my favorite thing ever, but Rick and Morty is up there)
  • I read a lot of news. And when I say news, I mean actual news articles (not editorials or ‘news analysis’) in major newspapers written by reputable journalists. Also a fan of Wikipedia, skill-based tutorials, apocryphal scripture, old math books, and the like. I'm not the type of person to read for the sake of reading in general; I'm very purpose driven. For example, I'll read something to answer a question I have, but I'm less inclined to read something because so-and-so thinks it's good.
  • I’m a sucker for a good conversation. I think most people that know me would tell you that it’s very easy to lose 3-6 hours with me on a regular basis. I've been told that talking to me is a lot like talking to a philosophy professor or a therapist. I'm not either, just FYI. If that sounds like your thing, I’m a lot of fun to talk to! I'm not well versed in the nomenclature of most subjects, but I can usually propose ideas that will make people think! I have also found that making people think is really unpopular in 2020.
  • I smoke a lot of pot. Like a lot. I’ve been smoking on and off since I was a kid, and it’s likely always going to be a part of my life. You don’t have to smoke pot, but you should be okay with me smoking. I tend to smoke more when I’m really depressed, and less when I’m in a good place, and life is all ups and downs. I also vape a lot. I switched to vaping from smoking like 10 years ago, back when it wasn’t cool (I know, so hipster of me!). It required a lot of tinkering back then, and as previously mentioned, I like to tinker, plus I saved money!
  • I also don't drink at all anymore. This has been a dealbreaker for some.
  • I actually don’t like a lot of male things, which is why I don’t have a lot of male friends. I’m not into sports at all, and I don’t like fighting or violence, and I’m very much a pacifist except when necessary. I’ve personally never found violence effective at solving any problem except “protect yourself / your loved ones from immediate danger”, but hey YMMV.
  • I'm a bit of a hopeless romantic. I don't fall easily for people, but I fall hard when I do. Trust, connection, and safety are some of the sexiest things in the world to me, and I won't want to be intimate with someone if these things aren't present. If you want to seduce me, trust in me and let me trust in you; gets me every time!
If any of this resonates with you, drop me a line! Really just want people to hang out with and talk to, but open to more developing if it happens. That’s it! This post isn’t a fluke; I’m this long-winded in person. Looking forward to hearing from you all!

2020.10.08 12:46 majinmattossj2 Brazilian Big12 series, Episode 12/12: São Paulo

Previous episodes: Flamengo, Vasco, Fluminense, Grêmio, Botafogo, Atlético Mineiro, Internacional, Corinthians, Santos, Palmeiras, Cruzeiro
In this series I will present each of the 12 Brazilian teams that together compose the "Big 12". My point is to make them more knowledgeable to you, since each one of these teams have their share of the Brazil national team success and of Brazilian club football accomplishments as a whole. I'll try to be as smooth, efficient and non-boring as I can. If the feedback is positive, I'll keep bringing more to this series. So ok, let's do this!
Method: I'll present the teams in a chronological order, from the oldest foundation (Flamengo-1895) to the latest one (São Paulo-1930). The order will be: Flamengo, Vasco, Fluminense, Grêmio, Botafogo, Atlético Mineiro, Internacional, Corinthians, Santos, Palmeiras, Cruzeiro, São Paulo. How many of these have you heard of?
Extra clubs: Due to a high number of requests, I'll also present 3 teams who don't belong to the Big12, but are also considered big clubs in Brazil: Bahia, Athletico Paranaense and Coritiba. Welcome to the club!
Geographical reference: Before we start, I'd like to ask something very simple from you. I want you to keep in mind that these 12 teams are spread in 4 different States in Brazil. The club's State name is written below, next to the club's name. It has a direct link to Google Maps, so that you can check it out to make this experience more accurate.

Episode 12/12: São Paulo (State: São Paulo), founded in 1930

São Paulo FC, the biggest Brazilian club
São Paulo seems to be the only team in Brazil that has all the major ingredients that make a team, the biggest: lots of international and domestic titles, big fanbase, big stadium, big idols and historical teams. Clubs like Santos or Flamengo come close, but lack one or other ingredient - that's why São Paulo, the only 3x Club World champion and the youngest of the Big12, is considered the biggest club in Brazil!
Brazilian Club International titles Domestic titles Total
São Paulo 12 6 18
Santos 8 9 17
Flamengo 5 12 17
Palmeiras 3 14 17
Cruzeiro 7 10 17
Corinthians 4 11 15
Grêmio 6 8 14
Not only São Paulo leads the title rank, but also the runner-up rank, as you can see below:
Brazilian Club International runner-ups Domestic runner-ups Total
São Paulo 8 8 16
Cruzeiro 9 7 16
Palmeiras 6 5 11
Santos 2 9 11
Internacional 2 8 10
Grêmio 6 4 10
In the entire South America, São Paulo is only behind Boca Juniors and Independiente in international trophies:
South American club Intercontinental/Club World Cup Copa Libertadores Others Total
Boca Juniors 3 6 9 18
Independiente 2 7 5 14
São Paulo 3 3 6 12
River Plate 1 4 5 10
However, you have to consider that in Argentina there are only 5-7 big clubs (Boca, River, Independiente, San Lorenzo, Racing, Estudiantes, Vélez), while in Brazil there are at least 12, making things more difficult to São Paulo.
São Paulo is also the only Brazilian club to win 3x the Intercontinental/Club World Cup, which is considered their biggest feat:

Intercontinental Cup 1993 São Paulo 3-2 Milan Palhinha, Cerezo, Müller, Massaro, Papin
Club World Cup 2005 São Paulo 1-0 Liverpool Mineiro
The beginnings
São Paulo was founded in 1930, and accepted people from any origin, social class or ethnicity since their early days. They won their first trophy in 1931, a State League title, led by Friedenreich - who scored 103 goals in 5 years at the club. After a few fusions with other clubs, the team would begin to really shine in the 1940s.
The 1940s: five State League titles
Due to Brazil's huge size and weak infrastructure, there wasn't a National League until 1959 - until then and even afterwards, the State Leagues were the main tournaments.
In the 1940s, São Paulo won 5 of them. At this time, the club also received the nickname "The Dearest Team", because they dared to bring and show a huge São Paulo State Flag in the inauguration of the Pacaembu stadium, in front of 70.000 spectators, including the hated Brazilian dictator Getúlio Vargas.
Leonidas da Silva
The first big idol of the club was Leonidas, present in the 5 State League titles in the 1940s. The Black Diamond had played in two World Cups (1934, 1938) and joined the club in 1942. He scored 140 goals in 212 matches, and retired from football in this same club, in 1950.
It was in this decade that São Paulo gained the respect of the best teams of the city, Palmeiras and Corinthians, who already had 10 State League titles on their account.
In 1943, during a State League draw, a Corinthians' director said that the draw was unnecessary: he flipped a coin and said that if it falls head Palmeiras will be champions, if it falls tail it will be Corinthians. After being questioned about São Paulo, he replied, laughing: "if the coin stands, it will be São Paulo, if it stops in the air, it will be Portuguesa". São Paulo were the champions, and had a huge coin standing on their car during the celebrations at night.
The Steamroller dominated the decade, got the respect of Corinthians and Palmeiras and were now considered a rival. These 3 teams received the nickname of Iron Trio from the media.
1950s-1970: construction of Morumbi, the biggest private stadium in the world
The club destined all their money in the 1950s to the construction of their stadium Morumbi, which would be the biggest private stadium in the world. Without funds to build a strong team, they only won two State Leagues in this period (1953, 1957), with the legendary Hungarian coach Béla Guttmann commanding them in the 1957 title, with 1950 World Cup Golden Ball winner Zizinho on their side.
While São Paulo built their stadium, a young kid named Pelé arrived at Santos, and gave no chance to them, or to the Iron Trio teams in the 1960s.
1970s: back in the game
In this decade, São Paulo won their first Brazilian League title in 1977, and also 3 State Leagues (1970, 1971, 1975), besides one Copa Libertadores runner-up (1974), and one Brazilian League runner-up (1973).
Curiously enough, the 1977 São Paulo wasn't a great team, and nobody bet on them to become Brazilian champions. They beat Atlético Mineiro in the final, on the penalties, after two 0-0 ties. São Paulo missed their first two penalties, but managed to overcome Atlético, who sent three shots away. No São Paulo player was elected to the League's Best XI.
The São Paulo players who stood out in this decade were: Gérson, World Cup champion in 1970, Pedro Rocha, elected to the League's Best XI in 1973, Mirandinha, elected to the League's Best XI in 1973 and called to the 1974 World Cup, Waldir Peres, excellent goalkeeper who won the League Golden Ball in 1975 and played in 3 World Cups (1974, 1978, 1982), Chicão, centre-back who played 312 matches for São Paulo in the 1970s and got called to the 1978 World Cup, and Serginho Chulapa, the club's greatest topscorer, who scored 242 goals in 399 matches for São Paulo between 1973-1982, and played in the 1982 World Cup as a starter, after Careca's injury.
1980s: State dominance
In the 1980s, São Paulo watched their rivals Palmeiras and Santos struggle, as they took home 5 State League titles (1980, 1981, 1985, 1987, 1989).
But it was in the 1986 Brazilian League that São Paulo proved their worth. Led by Careca, they ended the 1st stage undefeated (7W-3D). On the second stage, they kept the good shape, with only 2 defeats in 16 matches, and with 3 wins scoring 5 goals or more.
On the knock-out stage, São Paulo first met Inter de Limeira in the ro16, the current São Paulo State League champions. São Paulo lost the 1st leg 1-2, but gave a 3-0 back in the return leg, with Careca scoring once on each match.
In the quarter-finals, they would play Fluminense, and lost the 1st leg 0-1. In the 2nd leg, Careca opened the score at '67 with this crazy goal, and Müller scored the second ten minutes later.
In the semi-finals, they would face América, a traditional team from Rio de Janeiro, that was big in the old days. América's goalkeeper worked hard, but at '80, Careca finally scored with this shot. In the return leg, Careca scored this genius lob goal from inside the box. The team held América's pressure, and left with a 1-1 tie and the spot in the big final.
The big final would be against Guarani. In the 1st leg at the Morumbi, the topscorers of the tournament, Evair and Careca, scored once each, and the match ended 1-1. The 2nd leg was one of the craziest Brazilian League finals. It ended 1-1 with two own goals, and went to extratime. São Paulo did 2-1 with Pita at '91, but Guarani tied at '97 and scored the 3-2 at '110, with this goal of guts. São Paulo needed a goal in 10 minutes, and at '119, Careca scored to tie the match 3-3 and become the league topscorer. On the penalties, Careca missed São Paulo's first shot, but so did Guarani. São Paulo would score all their 4 other penalties, while Guarani's João Paulo sent it away, so that São Paulo were crowned Brazilian League champions for the 2nd time.
São Paulo had 6 players elected to the League's Best XI: Gilmar, Dario Pereyra, Nelsinho, Bernardo, Pita, and the Golden Ball and league topscorer with 25 goals, Careca.
Also in 1986, São Paulo had 5 players called to the 1986 World Cup, notably the starters Müller and Careca, as well as Oscar, Falcão and Silas. They lost on the penalties to France in the quarter-finals.
1991-1994: Telê Santana Era, the team that dominated the world
Johan Cruyff said, after his Barcelona lost to São Paulo in the 1992 Intercontinental Cup: "if you are to be run over, better be by a Ferrari".
This São Paulo superteam dominated Brazil, South America and the World in these years. They won 2 Intercontinental Cups, 2 Copa Libertadores, 1 Brazilian League, 1 State League, 2 Recopa, 1 Supercopa Libertadores and 1 Copa Conmebol, not to mention the Tereza Herrera (4-1 against Barcelona) and the Ramón de Carranza (4-0 against Real Madrid) in Spain.
Everything started in 1990, with the arrival of Telê Santana, the celebrated Brazil 1982 coach. With him, São Paulo finished 2nd in the Brazilian League, losing to their rival Corinthians on the final.
In 1991, São Paulo began the season in great fashion, winning the Brazilian League by June, with a 67% rate. They led the first stage, then knocked Atlético Mineiro out in the semis after two ties (1-1, 0-0), before beating Bragantino in the final (1-0 and 0-0), with this goal from Tilico on the 1st leg. São Paulo were crowned Brazilian League champions for the 3rd time. Two São Paulo players were elected to the League Best XI: Ricardo Rocha and Leonardo.
On December 1991, São Paulo had their revenge against Corinthians in the State League final: in front of 102.000 spectators at the Morumbi, Raí scored a hat-trick and ended the conversation. 3-0 to São Paulo on the first leg, and a 0-0 tie in the second leg to secure the State League title against Corinthians.
1992: the first Copa Libertadores and Club World titles
In this season, São Paulo won the Copa Libertadores on the first semester, then the Intercontinental Cup and the State League titles on the second.
At the beginning, the coach Telê used the reserves in the Copa Libertadores, considering it a way too disloyal competition. But after a 0-3 defeat and with the pressure from the board to take it seriously, he changed his strategy and qualified from the group stage on the 2nd place, with 3W-2D-1L, behind Criciúma.
São Paulo passed through Nacional (Uruguay) in the ro16 without much problems and 2 wins (1-0, 2-0).
In the quarter-finals, São Paulo suffered, but beat Criciúma 1-0 at home with this goal from Macedo. In the 2nd leg, Criciúma opened the score at '10, but Palhinha tied with this great goal at '55, qualifying his team to the semis.
In the semis against Barcelona (Ecuador), São Paulo smashed them 3-0 at home, with another great goal from Palhinha. In the 2nd leg in Ecuador, São Paulo goalkeeper Zetti performed this huge mistake as Barcelona scored 2-0 at '87, but it was too late and São Paulo qualified to the final.
In the big final against Newell's Old Boys (Argentina), São Paulo lost the 1st leg in Argentina, 0-1. At home, with a crowd of 105.000 at the Morumbi, Raí scored 1-0 from a penalty at '65. The match ended and went to the penalties. The Argentines hit the post on their first shot, but São Paulo lost their third one. The Argentines missed their 4th shot, while Cafu scored. Zetti saved Newell's 5th shot - and São Paulo were crowned South American champions for the first time.
Palhinha was the Copa Libertadores topscorer with 7 goals. This title qualified São Paulo to the Intercontinental Cup, to play against European champions Barcelona in December.
São Paulo 2-1 Barcelona: the 1992 Intercontinental Cup title
In August, São Paulo had already beaten Barça 4-1 for the Tereza Herrera Trophy (5mn video), with Müller scoring this nice goal. Four months later, they would meet in Tokyo for the Intercontinental Cup trophy.
Bulgarian Stoichkov opened the score at '12 with this amazing goal. São Paulo, led by Raí, quickly dominated the match and tied at '27: Müller did a great Cruyffesque turn and assisted Raí to score. Minutes later, Müller almost scored this great lob goal. In the second half, Barcelona almost scored again, but Ronaldão saved on the line. At '78, Raí scored from this no-chance free-kick on the GK side to overcome the score to 2-1 in São Paulo's favor. Not much else was done, the match ended, and São Paulo were crowned for the first time Club World champions.
Raí, who scored a brace, was elected Man of the Match.

One week after the title, on the 20th December, São Paulo played the 2nd leg of the São Paulo State League final, against rivals Palmeiras. São Paulo had won the 1st leg 4-2, with a hat-trick by Raí and this great goal by Cafu. In the 2nd and final leg, in front of 111.000 spectators, São Paulo won 2-1, with goals by Müller and Cerezo, to secure their 18th State League title and tie with Palmeiras in the State League title ranking.
São Paulo played 84 matches in 1992, with 45W-21D-18L (66% rate) and 133 goals scored. Raí was the topscorer with 31 goals, folllowed by Palhinha (25) and Müller (24).
1993: International Quadruple Crown, São Paulo dominates the World again
São Paulo started the season playing the São Paulo State League. However, the 1990s was a Golden Era of Brazilian football, and the State League was dominated by a rich Palmeiras sponsored by Parmalat, with Roberto Carlos, César Sampaio, Edílson, Zinho and Edmundo - so that São Paulo finished 3rd.
São Paulo were focused in the 1993 Copa Libertadores, which they entered in the ro16, as returning champions. At first they had a 1992 rematch against Newell's Old Boys (Argentina): they lost 0-2 in Argentina, but stomped them 4-0 at home in the 2nd leg (3mn29 video).
In the quarter-finals, they met Flamengo. Palhinha scored this beautiful lob goal at the Maracanã, in the 1st leg that ended 1-1. At home, Dinho almost scored from this crazy free-kick, but Müller didn't forgive and scored this nice goal at '24. Right-back Vitor saved São Paulo with the goal empty moments later, and then he assisted Cafu to score the second and qualifying goal at '68.
In the semis, São Paulo sent Cerro Porteño (Paraguay) home, after a 1-0 victory at home and a 0-0 tie away. In the 2nd leg, after a corner kick by Arce, Ronaldo Luís saved São Paulo on the goal line.
In the big final, São Paulo destroyed Universidad Católica (Chile). In the 1st leg at home, they were leading 5-0 at '70, before the Chileans scored their goal of honor at '85 - goals and highlights here (7mn13 video). In the 2nd leg in Chile, São Paulo lost 0-2, and were crowned back-to-back Copa Libertadores champions.
Raí left to French club PSG after the Libertadores title. In this first span (1987-93) at the club, he scored 111 goals in 306 matches, as a midfielder. He would come back later, from 1998 until 2000.
In September, São Paulo won their 2nd international trophy of the year - the Recopa Sudamericana, against Cruzeiro (0-0, 0-0, p.k. 4-2).
In November, São Paulo won their 3rd international trophy of the year - the Supercopa Libertadores, which gathered all the 16 Libertadores champions in history. After beating Independiente (Argentina) (2-0, 1-1), Grêmio (2-2, 1-0), Atlético Nacional (Colombia) (1-0, 1-2, p.k. 5-4) and Flamengo (2-2, 2-2, p.k. 5-3) in the final, they only needed a win in the Intercontinental Cup against the AC Milan of Fabio Capello to claim the unique International Quadruple Crown.
São Paulo 3-2 Milan: the 1993 Intercontinental Cup back-to-back title
The early 1990s Milan was legendary - Gli Invicibili (The Invincibles) that won the 1991/92 Serie A unbeaten, reaching a 58-match run with no defeats. Baresi, Costacurta and Maldini, one of the strongest defences in football history, also Desailly and Donadoni in midfield, plus Massaro and Jean-Pierre Papin in attack. This Milan had 5 starters of the 1994 WC final against Brazil - São Paulo had none, actually only 5 bench players (Zetti, Ronaldão, Leonardo, Müller, and Cafu - who was subbed in during the final).
This 1993/94 Milan only conceded 25 goals in 54 matches, but São Paulo somehow found a way to score 3 against them.
Milan started the match better, with this crazy shot from Massaro. But it was São Paulo who opened the score at '19 with Palhinha, after this cross from Cafu. Massaro tied at the beginning of the 2nd half, but Cerezo scored the second at '59 after a cross from Leonardo. Papin tied it 2-2 at '81 from a header. But 7 minutes later at '88, this funny back/knee goal happened, scored by Müller. São Paulo held the pressure, the match ended and the World belong to São Paulo once again, for the second year in a row.
Toninho Cerezo was elected Man of the Match. With this title, São Paulo joined Pelé's Santos record of winning two back-to-back Copa Libertadores and Club World titles - they are the only South American teams to have done so until today, and probably, forever.

1994-95: the end of the Telê Era
Before Telê started to get sick in 1995, he had time to collect the 1994 Recopa Sudamericana and the 1994 Copa Conmebol - the latter with the reserve team, called Little Express, with upcoming talents such as Rogério Ceni, Juninho Paulista, and Denílson, who even beat the traditional Peñarol (Uruguay) 6-1 in the final - the largest score in a South American final ever.
He also reached the 1994 Copa Libertadores final, but lost it on the penalties to Vélez Sarsfield (Argentina) (0-1, 1-0, p.k. 3-5).
Telê passed away in 2006, at the age of 74, and is considered the best Brazilian coach in history. He inspired a series of world class coaches, namely Marcelo Bielsa, Arrigo Sachi and Pep Guardiola - notably with his Brazil 1982 and São Paulo 90-94 sides.
1996-2004: Rebuilding times, the club that almost wins
In this period, São Paulo was known for building good teams and revealing great players, but without collecting trophies. They only won 2 State Leagues (1998, 2000), 1 Rio-São Paulo Tournament (2001), and an irrelevant Copa Master da Conmebol (1996).
On the other hand, they finished 2nd in three State Leagues (1996, 1997, 2003), two Rio-São Paulo (1998, 2002), 1 Copa dos Campeões (2001), 1 Supercopa Libertadores (1997) and one traumatic Copa do Brasil (2000), losing the title in the last 10 minutes. They also reached 1 Copa Libertadores semi-final (2004), 1 Copa Sudamericana semi-final (2003) and finished 3rd in two Brazilian Leagues (2003, 2004). Meanwhile, their rivals Corinthians and Palmeiras were collecting trophy after trophy, while Santos started to reemerge to big titles.
The highlights of this period were the return of Raí in 1998 and his performance (7mn video) against Corinthians in the State League final, the performances of Rogério Ceni, Belletti, França, Dodô, Marcelinho Paraíba and Luís Fabiano, and the revelations of Denílson, Julio Baptista and Kaká. Three of them even represented São Paulo at the 2002 World Cup title (Rogério Ceni, Belletti, Kaká), as well as Edmilson and Denilson, who lived this period at the club and were now in Europe. But the trophies weren't coming.
Kaká, notably, appeared in 2001 in the Rio-São Paulo Tournament final. He entered the match at 0-1, and scored two goals in two minutes, thus taking the title home. He performed well in the 2001 Brazilian League, but was knocked out in the quarter-finals.
After the 2002 World Cup title in June, Kaká returned to São Paulo and tore the Brazilian League apart with Luis Fabiano, winning the Golden Ball Award. However, the title didn't come again, as they lost in the quarter-finals (1-3, 1-2) to the uprising young talents of Santos' Diego and Robinho. The São Paulo supporters were extremely angry at Kaká, calling him a popcorn maker (meaning choker in Brazil), and demanded his exit, notably after another defeat in the 2003 State League final (2-3, 2-3) to rivals Corinthians. Kaká then left the club in 2003 to join Milan. He played 131 matches and scored 48 goals for São Paulo, in this period (2001-2003).

2005, Libertadores, Club World Cup and Rogério Ceni - the myth, the legend, the 1
Before 2005, Rogério Ceni was considered just a good goalkeeper - after that, he became a club idol and started de facto his legacy. Ceni arrived at the club in 1990, at the age of 17. He got promoted to Telê's main team in 1992, after the death of third goalkeeper Alexandre, and collected some important titles under him, as reserve. He started playing in 1997, for both São Paulo and Brazil NT - his known antipathy however didn't help him for Brazil, specially with so many talents around with more empathy, like Taffarel and Marcos, or with more skills, like Dida. He developed himself as a world class free-kick taker - and that, somehow, worked against him when people analyzed his goalkeeping abilities.
Rogério Ceni is the goalkeeper with the most goals scored in history, with 131 goals in 1237 matches for São Paulo - 69 from penalties, 61 from free-kicks. In 2005, he notably scored 21 goals in 75 matches, being the team's topscorer of the season.
The team started the 2005 season with some good players from 2004: Cicinho, Fabão, Lugano, Josué, Danilo, Tardelli and Grafite. With the arrival of Júnior, Mineiro, Amoroso and Luizão, the team was ready to dominate South America and the world for the third time.
They started winning the São Paulo State League, led by the coach Émerson Leão, main responsible for building the team, since his arrival on September 2004. He would then leave to Japan, being subbed by Paulo Autuori.
In the Copa Libertadores group stage, São Paulo ended 1st, with 3W at home and 3D away, against The Strongest (Bolivia) (3-3, 3-0), Universidad de Chile (Chile) (4-2, 1-1) and Quilmes (Argentina) (2-2, 3-1). Highlights to this free-kick goal by Rogério Ceni against Universidad.
In the ro16, São Paulo met their city rivals Palmeiras, and won the 1st leg 1-0 away with this great goal by Cicinho. In the 2nd leg at home, Rogério Ceni and Cicinho scored at '81 and '89 to beat Palmeiras 2-0.
In the quarter-finals, Tigres (Mexico) lost 0-4 to São Paulo in the 1st leg - Ceni opened the score with this great free-kick and also scored the third from another free-kick. In Mexico, they lost 1-2, but qualified anyway.
River Plate (Argentina) would be their adversary in the semis. At home, São Paulo hit the post twice, and won by 2-0, with goals from Danilo at '76 and Rogério Ceni, from this penalty at '89. In Argentina, São Paulo won 3-2, without much problems.
In the big final, São Paulo met Athletico Paranaense, and tied 1-1 in the 1st leg (away), with this funny own goal when they were losing 0-1. In the 2nd leg at home, São Paulo won 4-0: first with Amoroso at '16. Athletico then missed a penalty, and São Paulo scored the 2nd at '52 with Fabão. Luizão scored the 3rd and Tardelli the 4th. São Paulo were for the 3rd time, the Copa Libertadores champions, and the first Brazilian team to achieve it.
Ceni and Luizão were the topscorers of the team, with 5 goals each. This title qualified them to the 2005 Club World Cup.
2005 Club World Cup: São Paulo 1-0 Liverpool, 3x Club World champions
In Japan for their 3rd time, São Paulo first beat Al-Ittihad (Saudi Arabia) 3-2 in the semis, so they could face European champions Liverpool in the final.
The English team hadn't conceded a goal in 10 matches, and went full-attack on São Paulo, who defended themselves. But at '27, Mineiro scored the only goal of the match after a chipping from Aloisio. São Paulo defended as they could, with great help from Ceni, who performed the save of the year after Gerrard's free-kick at '51. The match ended at '93, and São Paulo were crowned Club World champions for the third time.
Ceni was elected Man of the Match and Golden Ball of the Cup.

2006-08: the Brazilian Sovereign
In 2006, São Paulo reached once again the Copa Libertadores final, but lost to Internacional (1-2, 2-2).
The team then focused on the Brazilian League, which they would win three consecutive times. Led by coach Muricy Ramalho, they would play defensive football (3-5-2) and show great regularity - though always getting eliminated in knock-out competitions. With these 3 titles, they reached a total of 6 league titles in their history.
In these 3 league titles, São Paulo played 114 matches, with 66 wins and only 16 defeats (overall rate of 67%), conceding only 87 goals.
11 São Paulo players were elected to the League's Best XI in this period: Ceni, Ilsinho, Fabão, Mineiro and Aloísio (2006), Ceni, Breno, Richarlyson, Hernanes (2007), Ceni, André Dias, Miranda, Hernanes and Borges (2008). Highlights to Hernanes, great São Paulo revelation, who later shone in Europe.

The São Paulo that brought fear to their adversaries disappeared in this period, collecting only one Copa Sudamericana in 2012. They managed however to reach two Copa Libertadores semi-finals (2010, 2016), two Copa do Brasil semi-finals (2012, 2015) and one 2nd place in the Brazilian League (2014). They also revealed Casemiro and Lucas Moura, among others.
São Paulo is one of the 3 Brazilian clubs to never be relegated.
To this day, São Paulo has the 3rd largest fanbase in Brazil, with 17 million supporters, and a stadium attendance average of 27.400, as of 2019.

2020.10.07 17:16 grant_cir The real reason: she think's I've been cheating

This has been going on for a long time now, pretty much since midway through the pregnancy when my wife got pretty paranoid about all sorts of things. Her obsession with rapists and serial killers went a little overboard (IMO it's always been a little overboard) and in general her hormones were OTT.
Our sex life, never exactly amazing, took a turn for the worse when we started trying to have a child - it went from being about fun to "we must get pregnant" - it turned into work. My wife is one of those super-hard-working, consumed-by-guilt protestant work ethic types, and now she turned that attitude towards sex. It stopped being "fun" and became stressful. When the result came back positive, we were both elated, but she was definitely relieved that we'd accomplished that 'stage' and we both pulled back a little from the work/duty/stress version of sex.
I have had a pregnancy "fetish" for years and looked forward to getting to enjoy some pregnancy sex, but shortly after the positive test, she started feeling nausea and "morning sickness" and in general not feeling up for having sex, which I respected. As we moved into the 2nd Tri and the sickness abated, other issues cropped up, and our sex life never got back on footing...then, because most of what my wife knows about heterosexual relationships, she learned on Sex and the City, and the hormone driven suspicions, she decided I must, because we weren't having sex, have started cheating elsewhere. And she has never really let go of that.
We've done therapy; we've talked about all sorts of different things. I remember clearly telling the first therapist, three years ago, that I was 99% certain my wife didn't want to sleep with me because she thought I was cheating.
In subsequent sessions, and again with a later therapist, she's at least copped to a lack of trust, and always there's a litany of controlling behavior hoops I'm supposed to jump through to re-establish trust, but of course, very little of what I've done has ever really changed - the behavior is the same as when we met. She of course is never willing to admit that she just believes I'm cheating - willing to directly make the accusation and then deal with the fallout, which is: I'm not, and there's no evidence being concealed.
Finally, two days ago, I had to run out to the office (we've been wfh for months) and while I was out, stopped by an empty rental property I own which is near my office, just to check on some renovation work. My wife - I suspect maybe tracking my phone, I don't keep it locked/secured - decided she was going to drive by and catch me in flagrante delicto with a paramour. She came around the back side of the place, and caught me standing on the back porch, texting my sister. She asked me who I was waiting for, and who I was meeting. So Busted.
At least now it's all out there...and I know. Not sure what I'm going to do with the confirmation yet, but it does help to know the truth. Of course, because everything to do with my DB situation must be somehow karma or otherwise my own fault, and nothing to do with her borderline batty paranoia or her massive weight gain that makes her see herself as completely undesirable, I'm sure this is some behavior I'm engaging in that I should spend my time changing (snark) so she can avoid dealing with her own issues.
I knew this was the root cause of what was going on, because this is the second time I've married someone who had a "full bodied" build (apparently maintained during the dating phase with near-starvation dieting) and then promptly packed on 25% and suddenly felt disgusting next to me, and felt I must - as a fairly conventionally attractive person - be cheating with every woman I meet.
My wife even had the gall to say to me that while she was on her way to catch me, she was thinking that "I almost wouldn't blame him - of course, I would blame you - if he cheated since we haven't had a sex life in six years". Of course, it's been 5.5 years that she assumed I have been cheating, and - as I remember thinking in my first marriage - I wonder at some point why I don't just cheat - I'm getting blamed for it, might as well have the sex. It's not like there aren't women who are clearly attracted and might be down for it.
I'd just end this now, except it's my son, who we both love, who would take the brunt of the hit. The really nice part of not cheating is that I can basically just relax now and stop agonizing over changing my own behavior. I think a little more radical, but non-antagonistic - transparency and open speaking is what's coming for our marriage and day-to-day life. I'm sure some uncomfortable things will be said, but somehow I am feeling like I just got to finally exhale. I feel liberated.

2020.10.07 06:35 goodf8kcheese 30 [F4M] Seattle- Looking for a long term relationship

F4M 30, Seattle, Wa
So I’m trying this again. I’ve decided to start dating and I am interested in a long term relationship. Reddit seemed like a good place to start.
I currently live closer to Tacoma but Seattle isn’t too far away. When we aren’t under quarantine I usually enjoy doing things like going to museums, book stores, being a tourist in my own city, comedy shows, wine bars, or walking on a trail with my dog while listening to an audiobook.
I am a mom to a German/Australian mix dog and a few plants (cliche, I know) but I love them and it’s all I really want to care for. I have been recently sterilized and would like to meet someone that does not have kids and doesn’t wish to have kids in the future.
I’ve gotten a little out of shape during quarantine but I’m working on it now. I have a curvy body at 5’4” 160lb. I am black with light brown skin and curly hair.
I do work in the sex industry (escort) and have worked in it for about two years. I love what I do but it is my job- not my identity or what I am as a person. As far as religion goes, I am an atheist but somewhat spiritual.
I guess I should put age parameters on this so maybe ages 27-39.
If you are interested in what you have just read and would like to take this further please don’t hesitate to message me.

Previous Hub Next: Book Four Discussion; Full Series Discussion
Reminder: We will be having a discusion thread for Season Four as a whole, and later a thread for the whole series, so keep the discussion here focused on these episodes themselves.
Spoilers: For the sake of those that haven't watched the full series yet, please use the spoiler tag to hide spoilers for majospecific plot points that occur in post-show content.
Discord: Discuss on our server as well.
Fun Facts/Trivia:
-The building on which the airbenders perch to overbalance the mecha suit with their airbending bears similarities to the Flatiron Building in New York City.
-The Future Industries billboard has the same advertisement as was present on a magazine in Reunion.
-The final scene is meant to depict Korra and Asami's transition from friendship to a romantic relationship. The wa the are posed mirrors Varrick and Zhu Li during their wedding. The score that played during the scene contained similar elements to "The Avatar's Love" which played during romantic scenes between Katara and Aang in ATLA. While they thought the intention was clear, the creators also specified their intention online a few days later. The relationship also appears in the post-show comics.
-Bryan suggested the idea of Korrasami while writing season one back in 2010, but it was assumed that a same sex relationship would not be allowed on a kid network at the time. While Nick ultimately was "supportive" with what was included in book four, that support only went to a certain extent and how the relationship could have been written was restricted by how LGBT+ content was viewed in 2014.
- The waiters at Varrick and Zhu Li's wedding are dressed like Nuktuk
-Band cameos: Hasook (fire ferret before Korra), Gang and Lu (cops in book two), Tahno, Ming, and Shaozu (Wolfbats), Council Paige.
-Tenzin wears the same formal attire he did in The Voice in The Night
-The chinese characters mean "The End"
Overviews:
Team Avatar escapes from the rubble of the Future Industries factory and devises a plan to take down Kuvira's giant mecha suit. The benders try to slow the suit down, but its power overwhelms them. Varrick tries to use an electromagnetic pulse to short-circuit the giant mecha but fails, only disabling a battalion of much smaller mecha suits instead. Hiroshi Sato is temporarily released from prison to aid Asami, Varrick, and Zhu Li in re-purposing the hummingbird suits for combat use. While working on the suits, Hiroshi and Asami bury the hatchet, and Varrick successfully proposes to Zhu Li. Baatar Jr. reveals a way to disable the giant mecha, and the team uses it to create a plan aimed at infiltrating the suit itself. Using a plasma saw rigged to the hummingbird suit, Hiroshi and Asami successfully cut a hole in a leg of Kuvira's mecha suit. Seconds before Kuvira crushes their suit, Hiroshi ejects Asami from it, saving her life and sacrificing his own to finish cutting the hole, and Korra, Mako, Bolin, Lin, and Suyin manage to enter the mecha through the hole.
Having infiltrated the giant mecha suit, Lin and Suyin move to disable the cannon, Mako and Bolin make their way to shut down the weapon's core, and Korra climbs to the cockpit to face Kuvira directly. With the cannon disabled, Kuvira tears the arm from the mecha with the Beifong sisters inside, tossing it into the Spirit Wilds moments before Korra blasts her way into the cockpit, sparking a ferocious duel. Meanwhile, Mako destroys the suit's core with lightning, causing it to explode and split the mecha in half at the waist. Korra helps a wounded Kuvira to exit the wreckage and demands her surrender, but Kuvira, catching Korra off-guard, escapes into the Spirit Wilds, where she finds the still-functional cannon hanging in the vines and turns it on the pursuing Korra. The shot misses, and the weapon begins absorbing power from the surrounding vines, causing it to spin out of Kuvira's control. Korra uses her energybending to counter the cannon's energy beam, and the massive amount of concentrated spirit energy tears open a new spirit portal. Korra and Kuvira are pulled into the Spirit World, where Korra manages to convince Kuvira to surrender, which she does the moment the two women return to Republic City. Sometime afterward, Varrick and Zhu Li are married at Air Temple Island with Bolin presiding. At the festivities, Wu reveals his plan to abolish the monarchy to Korra and Mako. Afterward, Korra and Asami decide to take a vacation to the Spirit World together, marking the start of their romantic relationship together.
